I'm beginning to see my total lack of interest in the Olympics as very liberating

There just seems to be a whole lot of fuss going on, concerning the coverage, and I can pretty much ignore it. 'What Ever Happened to Baby Jane' is on TCM, tonight so I will settle for watching some classic sibling competition, instead.

I think it should be illegal for any institution of education at any level to have a football team. I don't happen to hold NASCAR in any hither esteem either. So I can easily understand your apathy about "the games". I stand with you in solidarity.

played sports (my grand-nephew (12 years old) just won 2 1st place ribbons for swimming) but when it comes to college and professional sports, I have little interest.

I have finally gotten it across to my co-workers that I could care less about sports (all sports). I do get a little bit of a kick out of a few minutes of Sumo Wrestling and Luge from the Olympics (mostly just to confuse people when they talk about the games and I think the Luge folks have to be a little off to take that ride), but that is about it.

I don't expect everyone to love the things I love.

Enjoy the movie! It's one of the greats!

I kinda lost interest after the Munich Olympics. I've never been able to forget that. My comment was to say that if people are excited about watching the games then they should go for it and enjoy. Many don't even know about Munich or they've forgotten or they just don't think about it.

Which is why I pray these games are safe. The world is even scarier now, than it was then.

I remember watching it when I was really far too young to see a film like that. I don't think my mom quite understood the plot. As much as it frightened me, I came away a HUGE Bette Davis fan, and with an enduring dislike of Joan Crawford.

We've watched a little of the swim competition today and some women's basketball. This evening we watched Lemony Snicket.

I'm pretty much getting sick of all the griping about the games. No one is forcing you to do anything so why keep banging a gong?

I knew there were like minded people with no opinion, one way or the other, on the Olympics. And, it's not often I get to bring a Bette Davis movie into a post!

When I was MUCH younger, I was enthralled with the Olympics (Peggy Fleming, Dorothy Hamill, the 1980 US hockey team).

Now, while I feel for the athletes, the coverage over the past several cycles is so hyped, commercialized and insipid (I hate NBC), that I prefer movies and other diversions.

Some other Canadian network is covering this Olympics because my usual favorites are on, during their regular time.
