Romney Says He’d Respect Israeli Military Strike On Iran

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-07-29/romney-says-he-d-back-unilateral-israeli-strike-on-iran.html

Mitt Romney would respect an Israeli decision to carry out a military strike on Iran to stop the Persian Gulf country from developing nuclear capabilities, a top campaign aide said.

In a foreign-policy speech in Jerusalem, the Republican presidential candidate plans to strike a tougher stance with Iran and stress the importance of the U.S.-Israeli relationship, saying preventing the Islamic republic from developing the technology to build a bomb must be the “highest national security priority.” He will also express his support for unilateral Israeli action against Iran.

Romney meets with top Israeli and Palestinian leaders today as part of a six-day international tour designed to shore up his foreign-policy credentials abroad and woo Jewish voters at home.

“If Israel has to take action on its own, in order to stop Iran from developing the capability, the governor would respect that decision,” Dan Senor, a foreign policy adviser traveling with Romney in Israel, told reporters today.

From the NY Times..

WASHINGTON — President Obama, speaking days before a crucial meeting with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel, stiffened his pledge to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, even as he warned Israel of the negative consequences of a pre-emptive military strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities.

Furthermore, Romney does not represent the US on foreign policy especially on something as sensitive and dangerous as bombing Iran.

Report: US presents Israel with Iran strike plan

.......An Israeli newspaper reports that the Obama administration’s top security official has briefed Israel’s prime minister on U.S. plans for a possible attack on Iran. The Haaretz daily says National Security Adviser Tom Donilon sought to reassure Israel that Washington is prepared to act military should diplomacy and sanctions fail to pressure Iran to abandon its nuclear enrichment program.

......Haaretz said Sunday that Donilon detailed the plans to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in a visit to Israel earlier this month.
An Israeli government spokesman did not respond to a request for comment. A U.S. Embassy spokesman couldn’t be reached.

Both Israel and the U.S. think Iran’s program is aimed at developing bombs, and not for peaceful purposes as Tehran claims.

U.S. policy so far has focused on sanctions and diplomacy.

would he be tooting the same horn? That is the scenario Iran faces, I have a hard time believing that they would launch a nuclear strike on anyone.... but then we do need a boogeyman for every decade or so.

I'm reading 'Imperial Life in the Emerald City'.. & the decisions taken were stunningly foolish, especially from 2012 perspective.

I'd like to see an ad: Showing a visual of $$$$$ the Bush team willingly spent on Iraq reconstruction... not that it didn't need reconstruction after the bombing.

Somewhere in the book, can't see it right now.. is a list of Reconstruction Projects undertaken..In Iraq..

Now Republicans refuse to allow reconstruction of infrastructure.. on American soil...

And NB.. all the military men and women who so bravely fought in unendurable conditions... thank you, thank you...

**I can only read the book slowly, especially knowing the horrors that occurred in the years after 'Imperial Life in the Emerald City'
