Rep. Dave Camp diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma

Washington — Rep. Dave Camp, R-Midland, the chairman of the House's powerful tax-writing committee, said Saturday that he'd been diagnosed with a "very early, highly treatable and curable type" of cancer.

Camp said in a note issued by the House Ways and Means Committee that he would continue his work in Congress while taking treatment for non-Hodgkin lymphoma found recently after a routine physical.

Non-Hodgkin lymphoma is a cancer that begins in the cells of the immune system. Camp, 59, said he has large B-cell lymphoma. B-cells are a type of white blood cell that helps fight infections.

Rep. Camp has good health insurance. That's all that counts.
