Chick-Fil-A their taste is that they use pickle brine (pickle juice) to soak their potatoes and chicken breasts before frying them. Dash white pepper and some pickle juice (specifically, white pepper) on the breasts after soaking them, fry and you won't know the difference if you serve them on partially toasted buns with more pickles.

Sun Jul 29, 2012, 05:46 PM

It had pickles, was doused with a little pickle juice... then I stuck it on white bread with mayonnaise and it was easily as delicious as anything I could eat at a place that actively works against my best interests.

Chick-Fil-A has nothing but a seasoning process to set them aside, and once they lose that, which they have to me, I have no reason to go. Why eat something you can easily eat at home and NOT support bigotry? It's an easy recipe to replicate Chick-Fil-A sandwiches.

Has some rules here in regards to limiting Fast Food Restaurants. With all the top notch Restaurants in city, and family owned businesses
they want them to thrive. As for Chic fil a, the Gay community and the City Council would probably put a stop to them coming here. Its worked so far with WALMART. The closest Walmart is in Colma near Daly City, which is outside San Francisco Country.

I always come back to San Francisco. A few years back, I just wanted to know what it was like to live else where, so I moved to places where I had some friends. the country has changed a lot in 20 years, I've lived in Arizona and Utah and both either had a, lot of Asian food, or now have it. all the areas of the mountain and desert west that were Lily white in 1985 have visible minority populations, in substantial numbers.

I was referring to Scottsdale Arizona, Preston Idaho, Salt Lake City Utah, Santa Barbara and Huntington Beach. When I mean Asian food, I am not necessarily referring to just Chinese... but Thai, Japanese, Malaysian-Indonesian-Singaporen, Vietnamese and Korean.

Most of those places have a scattering of Chinese Restaurants... but not much else.

And by the way, I never referred to South San Francisco.

Have you been to Scottsdale recently? When I was last there, some woman asked me if I was Native American! She obviously had never seen an Asian in her entire life. Maybe she was one out of a thousand who didn't know. I am sure maybe now there are a few Japanese and maybe even a Thai Restaurant by there... but try to find a Vietnamese one! Try to find one that serves the type of food you would find in Singapore, or Malaysia... I really rather doubt you will find one.

I am glad you grew up in an Asian neighborhood. I am happy you got to experience some Asian culture, because not many in this country have.

Tue Jul 31, 2012, 01:31 AM
Jul 2012

of course, Phoenix doesn't have the Asian population of the Bay Area or Los Angeles, but it's near 10 percent now.

and as for Vietnamese restaurants, again, it's time to realize how much our country has changed since your opinion formed about these areas:

http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&q=phoenix+thai+restaurants&ion=1&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.,cf.osb&biw=798&bih=400&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=X&ei=42oXUPnoGMqlrQG194HgDA&ved=0CE8Q_AUoAg

here's Salt Lake City for Malaysian restaurants:

(notice the suburbs, these are not white monoliths like in decades past)

http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&q=salt+lake+city+malaysian+food&ion=1&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.,cf.osb&biw=657&bih=403&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=X&ei=ZG0XUPv3CJHtqAGY5oGgCw&ved=0CEAQ_AUoAg

And I just want to add that I think it's one of the greatest things to happen to this country. To me the American dream, which is now going worldwide, is to be defined not by one's ethnicity, but by what one values and cares about.

Today, in many free nations you can't judge a person's ethnicity by looking at them. They look Asian, but their family has been in California since the 1800's. They are American, period, or whatever they want to consider themselves.

In Canada too, immigration has changed everything. It's great.

are somewhat amusing. They argue that we are intolerant. But, what if it wasn't gay people they were targeting with their money. Would we be bigoted if we didn't want to support them if they sent money to the KKK? Or, is that when we should speak out maybe it would be ok then. Or what if they sent money to an organizations that either said Palestine or Israel or both should be wiped of the map? Should we be ok with them promoting that? Because there are religious people that have these views, so really I can't say that some religious views should't be supported or I am a bigot, really?

I don't really care that they are saying this because in the end it is my choice where I am going to eat. I won't eat at a place that could be defined as a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center.

How dominant and ubiquitous is the message and influence of the anti-human rights, pro-laissez-fail Right Wing?

They have two dedicated channels on TV, and many "junior" versions of those stations. What does the progressive have?

They have representation from one united political party and many "junior" representations of that viewpoint (economically, anyway . . . some even support "one man, one woman&quot in the "opposition" party. What does the progressive have?

The dominant religion in this country is Christianity. Bible literalists are all OVER television, and Bible literalism = fear and hate leading to submissive obedience. What does the progressive worshipper have?

Of course, if a company wants to put its money into supporting its religious beliefs, I'd prefer they emulate the Catholic-owned Costco and make a point of paying its employees enough to support their families (something like $13.50 an hour even for a lowly shelf-stacker). That's real family values for you.

There are several in the County I live in.

I have never done drag but on Aug 1, I'm going to give it my best shot and show up on their "appreciation" day, flaming all the way. And of course I will be there on Aug 3, also with my little black book giving out free kisses.

Lots of people want people to boycott businesses for lots of reasons and I don't participate. But I can't ignore this issue any longer.

Thank you for this post, William769 and thank you to all the other DUers who have put the spotlight on Chick-fil-A owner bigotry.

No more Chick-fil-A for me until there is a sea change.

There are definitely beliefs in the Cathy family that I find loathsome, but lying about what they believe isn't going to help anyone.

And he also said something about balls.

I don't even like the name of their restaurant, "Chick-Fil-A".
I have never eaten there, even when I was traveling out of state.
I just don't like them.
Even though many of my friends and relatives that live in the South said they have gone there, and some even told me they liked it, I stayed away from eating there.

They didn't even have one of their restaurants located here in Boise until just recently.
However, I always thought their chicken-type restaurant was just another cheap, ripoff chicken joint that tried to hone in on Kentucky Fried Chicken's market.

But, since this debacle after Cathy made these comments, I don't think many of my friends or relatives will be eating there anytime soon.
Besides, nobody could cook better chicken than my grandmother could when she was yet still alive, so eating at a restaurant that boasts about serving chicken just doesn't appeal to me at all.

I liked their commercials during the college football games. But even they are beginning to get a little lame now.
I won't watch the college bowl game they sponsor now though until they retract their position on marriage.
Our kids deserve to live in a better world than we were born into, that's what we're here for.

We need to wipe homophobia off of the face of the earth like the disease that it is.
By gawd, we cured polio, we can change attitudes about gay people, too.
One step at a time, one day at a time, one person at a time -- keep your eyes on the prize -- equality for all, regardless of sex, race, creed, color, religion, or sexual orientation.

1) There's nothing here that supports the 4 specific claims in the original picture that was posted. Nothing.

2) If someone else lies, that makes it right for you to lie about them? Why isn't it good enough to focus on the reprehensible shit they actually believe?

You are hurting your cause, not helping it.

If you're going to claim that someone believes all homosexuals molest children, you had better come with the proof!

If you have enough truth to hang someone with, why would you make shit up? It's counterproductive.

I see you are thrilled some sweat shop corporation donated 0.00001% percent of their earnings to charitable causes. But the harm this corporation has done well outweigh any benefits. Starting with the fact it is centrally organized, it simply extracts wealth from communities and concentrates to select individuals. And the good probability a good percent of their employees work for minimum wage with no benefits. If you are lucky to get benefits, there is a slim chance a gay couple would be extended the same benefits as married. I could go on forever with this list.... Please excuse me if I don't sound grateful.

Menino clarified his view Thursday, saying that it would not be within his power to take any steps to prevent the business from establishing a franchise in the city and that he could not deny permits to the company. His only recourse, he said, is expressing his disapproval.

I don't understand why anyone would go there at this point.

How about if some of the gay folk even team up with progressive hetero folk to go there and make sure that if they buy anything, that those in the restaurant have to see same sex kissing sessions as a part of the protest. If employees try to restrict them at all, make an issue out of it. Perhaps even have signs if you are a hetero saying something like "Hey Chick-Fil-A, thanks for a gay day!" And if they get upset, then say... "Don't you want me to be gay and have a good time here as a customer?" and completely play with their employees' and customers' minds!
