It's Even Worse Than It Looks: How the American Constitutional System Collided With the New Politics of Extremism

...........however awkward it may be for the traditional press and nonpartisan analysts to acknowledge, one of the two major parties, the Republican Party, has become an insurgent outlier—ideologically extreme; contemptuous of the inherited social and economic policy regime; scornful of compromise; unpersuaded by conventional understanding of facts, evidence, and science; and dismissive of the legitimacy of its political opposition. When one party moves this far from the center of American politics, it is extremely difficult to enact policies responsive to the country’s most pressing challenges.

principles. For modern-day Republicans to hold even 20% of the seats in either House of Congress, much less the White House, while making a total mockery of these principles, defies reason and astounds one's senses.

I don't think a Republican has legitimately won an election since 2000. They lie, cheat, and play on people's fears. But they cheat!!
To a reasonable person it just doesn't make sense.
I just had a conversation about this with my nephew, who has right wing parents. He said politicians don't make sense to me.
They have republicans so confused they don't even understand it, they just vote against things at this point. It a not so funny joke.
