Here's a reason for young people to understand what an asshole Paul Ryan is..

We may have a hard time convincing the younger generation on how dangerous Ryan is for Medicare and Obamacare but here's another reason for them to understand what an ass Ryan is. The young generation are very concerned about their environment and global warming.

Meet Paul Ryan: Climate Denier, Conspiracy Theorist, Koch Acolyte

Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI), Mitt Romney’s vice-presidential pick, is a virulent denier of climate science, with a voting record to match.
A favorite of the Koch brothers, Ryan has accused scientists of engaging in conspiracy to “intentionally mislead the public on the issue of climate change.” He has implied that snow invalidates global warming.
Ryan has voted to prevent the Environmental Protection Agency from limiting greenhouse pollution, to eliminate White House climate advisers, to block the U.S. Department of Agriculture from preparing for climate disasters like the drought devastating his home state, and to eliminate the Department of Energy Advanced Research Projects Agency (ARPA-E):

1. here is another reason: Make Room For Daddy

Hey, kids. Guess what? With the Ryan plan, guess who can't afford their own home anymore? That's right! Mom and Dad.
Where are they going to sleep? Bet you could move the kids in together and Mom and Dad could have a nice little corner of your house

2. Yep. Young people haven't paid much into the system yet,

so they don't have much to lose -- directly.

But their parents have paid in for decades. Money the parents could have saved for retirement went to social security tax. If that safety net goes away, many will have no source of support but their kids.

8. Likely were it not going into SS, parents wouldn't have been able to save it for retirement

that is one of the keys - most people have never had enough to mount their own retirement savings or be able to save nearly enough.
Between SS and in some cases union pensions, people could retire with dignity.
As unions have been destroyed so have pensions. Killing SS will not magically give people extra money to save. They don't make enough now.

What killing SS will do is create a new set of workers over 65 willing to work for damn near nothing because they are desperate. This is a GOP Win-win

then they might have enough if they didn't have to pay social security, especially if they're self-employed and have to pay 13% or 15% or whatever it is.

Realistically, some people are making enough and others are not. Those who have just enough would be able to put some money away for retirement if they did not have to pay social security tax. I fail to see "magic" in that. In fact, I fail to see anything beyond arithmetic in it.

My fear is that with some of this enormous amount of money that people have dutifully paid from their earnings and are counting on for retirement, the Republicans (perhaps abetted by Democrats) will try to balance the budget or maybe just lower taxes for the wealthy. If this happens, it will be one enormous step in the transfer of wealth and power to the 1%. I think it's what Ryan wants to do. I've heard about his proposed cuts, but I have not heard about what happens to the social security trust fund. I think they want to raid it.

4. Like Young People Will Even Have A House
Mon Aug 13, 2012, 10:22 AM
Aug 2012

With all of the student loan debts they will have to rack up given Ryan's cuts to education, they won't be able to afford a new house. Oh and, kids, good luck competing with extremely cheap overseas labor.

Let's tally this up:

In a Paul Ryan world:

1. You will have to pay for your parents' medical care and provide for them as they age.

2. You will have to borrow hundreds of thousands of dollars just to get a undergrad degree.

3. You will have to compete with labor from abroad who are willing to work at McDonalds wages for highly skilled jobs.

Good luck with all of that.

What is important Ryan is, made his way through the best colleges with the help of Social Security survivor benefits....after his father died. They need to think would they make it w/o either if one or both parents suddenly were gone. I know I loss both of mine by 12yrs.
