I know a Republican who uses private insurance, Medicare, and Medicaid

And loves Ryan's plan. Why?

Well he already pays out of pocket for a ppo health insurance so with Ryan's voucher he'll be subsidized and even if it doesn't cover everything he'll still be paying less than he does now.

If he gets Medicare, then he can not get Medicaid, and if he can pay for private insurance, he does not qualify for Medicaid....additionally almost everyone who uses Medicare also buys additional coverage, 'gap policies, or makes use of Medicare Advantage plans, which is probably what his ppo is. A Medicare Advantage PPO would not exist under Ryan's plan at all. Not at all.

They only count the income of the disabled person getting Medicaid services.

I do the same thing somewhat. I'm disabled(md) and use my parent's private insurance plus Medicaid as a backup.

I don't know other people not as fortunate as me do it. Which is why expanding universal health care is so dear to me.
