Can this possibly be true: Ryan well received by seniors

<snip>

In weekend interviews 38 percent responded favorably to Ryan joining the Republican ticket, up from 23 percent in pre-selection interviews last week. Positive views rose among independents as well as among Republicans, and among women. And Ryan was notably well-received among senior citizens – a group of interest given his plan to reshape Medicare.

See PDF with full results, charts and tables here.

At the same time, 33 percent of adults – disproportionately Democrats – continue to see Ryan’s selection unfavorably, about the same after the announcement as it was before. The movement in his favor came among undecideds, 45 percent before the announcement, a still-substantial 30 percent after it. Enough are left to tilt the balance as they come to their judgment on the choice.

GROUPS – Sixty-two percent of Republicans respond positively to Romney’s pick, 14 percentage points more than did so in the days leading up to the announcement. Many fewer independents see the choice positively, 39 percent, but that’s up 20 points from its level last week. (Twenty-eight percent of independents respond unfavorably; a third are undecided.)

Romney just gave up on Florida when he picked a guy who wants to kill grandma and starve her out. I dont know how he think's he'll win without Florida. Oh yes, by winning every other state.

Old folks (and smart folks) are going to vote in favor of saving the social safety nets

ability to vote in those most injurious to their well being. Many citizens are naive, gullible and easily led. The republicans use this to full advantage, over and over again. Next will be the religious endorsements.

And this applies to all ages IMO.

In this poll, Ryan isn't even breaking 50% favorability with seniors. Furthermore, the articles main argument for saying he's well received is that he's up from the only other poll they've done where the largest group of seniors treated him as "unknown". The article is seriously twisting the results of the poll to show that Ryan is well received by seniors when that is a conclusion that cannot be drawn from this one poll.

favorability poll, it says nothing about whether or not he's a good pick. It simply shows that more people now know that he's Romney's pick, and many of those who didn't know him, moved to favorable. That too will go down.

Sorry for the all caps, but I'm cutting and pasting:

GOT TO WATCH TV.
ROMNEY JUST PICKED HIS RUNNING MATE PAUL RYAN (WISCONSIN)
THIS MEANS "HOPE FOR OUR GREAT NATION"
PLEASE SAY A PRAYER THAT THIS WORKS, WE NEED A STRONG TEAM, THAT WILL TURN OUR COUNTRY AROUND.
PLEASE WATCH CAREFULLY, & MAKE RIGHT CHOICE IN NOV.
WE ARE HEADED IN THE WRONG DIRECTION, & NEED SOMEONE WHO LOVES OUR WONDERFUL COUNTRY.
GOD BLESS AMERICA & ROMNEY & RYAN.
I FEEL ALIVE AGAIN.
LOVE YOU ALL,
MOM

Now, you should know that last year, his mom needed open-heart surgery, spent a month in ICU and another months in the hospital -- all paid for by Medicare.

People who watch Fox News all day long eventually break with reality. I was stuck in front of a Fox show in a waiting room the other day for about 90 minutes. It was absolutely nauseating. It's really just an informercial for fascism.

I was just trying to point out that stupidity is pretty evenly distributed -- even among us seniors. The OP asked if it was possible that seniors could support Ryan. I was merely pointing out that a lot of them do. Whether it's stupidity or just a constant exposure to relentless and well-organized propaganda is an open question.

20. Could the Ryan plan keep enough money coming in for traditional Medicare?
Mon Aug 13, 2012, 02:47 PM
Aug 2012

Someone do the accounting on this scenario. I'm 65 and will collect traditional guaranteed Medicare till I die, according to Ryan. But in 2012 (or is it starting now?) the Ryan plan allows everyone age 18-55 to decide which plan they will want when they turn 65. Assume 80% of younger people want the cheapest choice; I assume that means they will pay less all those years from 18-65? (Otherwise, where are the new savings?). Where will the money come from to sustain traditional Medicare for all us baby boomers, who may still be alive for another 35-40 years? You think there will be funds left in 2047 when I turn 100?
It isn't just young people who should worry about the Ryan plan.

"Do you think Paul Ryan was a good pick for Mitt Romney?" Yes/No. I couldn't answer the question.

That was it. No counter balance questions, such as; "Do you think Paul Ryan is a good choice?" Or "Do you think this is a good choice for the American people?"

None of it matters if you are a FOX lemming.

When folks won't get their information from any source other than a single television channel, ironic, self defeating decisions will be made. If they aren't watching the station, they are still feeling the peer pressure from the Fox lemmings that are. Most likely at the steps of their local church.

Gotta remember, these folks think the perfect world wes depicted on "Leave it to Beaver". They deperately want to return to those times.

What they don't understand is that the GOP can't deliver. Unlike modern times, Beaver's dad had a good paying job and mom could stay home and bake cookies. A far different vision than what corporate America has in mind. Fox tells them that this fantasy world will come back if a few power mongers are given the chance to "trickle it down."
