It remains to be seen if Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romneys selection of Rep. Paul Ryan and his controversial budget plan will buoy him to victory, but one thing is certain: now that former House Speaker Newt Gingrich is Romneys chief Welfare Queen Attack Dog, it wont do for people to see Gingrich attacking Paul Ryans plan as radical and extreme.
Thats exactly what Gingrich did, though, and Mitt Romney attacked him for it in an ad thats been scrubbed from his YouTube account, but preserved for posterity by Mediaite: (VIDEO at link)
The Romney campaign has merrily enlisted the aid of former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich to spread lies about President Obama and welfare, but just a few months ago, they were taking aim at Gingrich for daring to speak out against Paul Ryans budget, which Gingrich told Meet The Press David Gregory was right-wing social engineering, adding that I dont think imposing radical change from the right or the left is a very good way for a free society to operate.
That moment of honesty brought down the collective Wrath of Con(servatives everywhere) onto Gingrich, and he was forced to offer the most surreal retraction in history, insisting that anyone who quoted what he said was a liar.
Of all the attack ads Romney produced during the Republican primary, this one has the potential to damage him the most, because Romney and Ryan will need to convince independent voters that opposition to the Ryan plan, or the Ryan/Romney Frankenplan, is just liberal hand-wringing. If even Newt Gingrich called it radical, thats a tough case to make.

He's trying desperately to hide his support of the Ryan Plan
Five Times Mitt Romney Has Embraced The Ryan Budget
1. Very supportive.Im very supportive of the Ryan budget plan. Its a bold and exciting effort on his part and on the part of the Republicans and its very much consistent with what I put out earlier. I think its amazing that we have a president who three and a half years in still hasnt put a proposal out that deals with entitlements. This presidents dealing with entitlement reform excuse me this budget deals with entitlement reform, tax policy, which as you know is very similar to the one that I put out and efforts to reign in excessive spending. I applaud it. Its an excellent piece of work and very much needed.
2.The right tone. Romney told Talking Points Memo, He is setting the right tone for finally getting spending and entitlements under control. Anyone who has read my book knows that we are on the same page.
3. Marvelous. I think itd be marvelous if the Senate were to pick up Paul Ryans budgetand to adopt it and pass it along to the president, Romney once professed while in Wisconsin.
Obama mocked him for this one:

Awesome!
The Ryan pick is the best thing to happen to this campaign! It has been rather dull and dry up till now but the hi-jinks are just pouring in ever since the selection. Bring on the debates I cant wait!
