Paul Ryan Voted 'Biggest Brown-Noser In High School': Should Mitt Romney Watch His Behind?

Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney may have to watch his behind if elected president after it was revealed his vice presidential choice, U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wis., was voted "biggest brown-noser" in high school.
Ryan, 42, a native of Janesville, Wis., a city of some 60,000, where he's lived his entire life, attended Joseph A. Craig High School. A 1988 senior survey published in the school's yearbook, which can be viewed here, http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2187217/Paul-Ryan-How-Mitt-Romneys-choice-went-high-school-geek-vice-presidential-candidate.html?ITO=1490 showed Ryan was voted "biggest brown-noser" among his peers.
Ryan comes from a prominent family in Janesville, and his cousin, Adam Ryan, also made it in the yearbook as "most likely to succeed."
It turns out the 1988 senior class at Craig got that one wrong, as Ryan was named as Romney's vice presidential choice over the weekend, becoming the first Wisconsinite to appear on a major party ticket.

(13,776 posts)Every other "biggest" or "most" in the yearbook is positive--did the yearbook editors create a category just for him? I wonder whether it was a category in the previous year's yearbook, too.
I feel a little bit bad for him (at the time, not now)--being voted "biggest brown-noser" as an 18-year-old must have really stung. I mean, he must have done things to deserve it, but probably only out of insecurity.
Edited to add that the full page at the Daily Mail link shows many more categories than just the top four... so this negative category really was unusual.

(23,664 posts)Most of the ones I experienced both in high school and later on in real life were actually proud of the way they conducted themselves.
And I suspect Ryan was one of them. He looks like a smug little prick to me.

(42,600 posts)Being picked as Romney's VP in no way negates Ryan's brown-nosing title, and they may want to wait until after the election to weigh in on whether Paul or Adam is the most successful cousin.
