Satan ice skates to work, again. Soledad O'Brien comes back the next day to FACT CHECK Sununu's

case of verbal dysentery.

I'm impressed! A JOURNALIST actually doing her JOB and INVESTIGATING FACTS, rather than just letting "both sides" blather, shrug, and say "I guess the truth lies somewhere in between."

But you know what I find really sad? The fact that she's probably only doing this because Sununu insulted her PERSONALLY. If he'd just continued to bloviate about Obama 'gutting $700 billion from Medicare' without accusing her of being a Democratic stooge when she challenged him on it, I don't think we'd have gotten this little fact-check sequel!

Yes, the MSM sucks, but there are individual reporters and commentators who generally do a a decent job. Acting shocked every time one does, has become a lame art form.

I don't remember reporters doing this kind of thing AT ALL between 1996 and 2006. And, despite efforts by groups like Media Matters, they only started doing their job when they began being mocked for not doing it.

I watched the video of the interview and the further it went the madder she got. I've always liked her but I quit watching cnn a few years ago so I don't get to see here often. I think she is a beautiful person not just because of being pleasant to look at but because of what is in her heart. She obviously loves our country as much as most of us here do. She's also intelligent enough that bullshitters don't get a pass from her.

6. This is a recurring problem with Sununu
Thu Aug 16, 2012, 06:06 AM
Aug 2012

I remember a few weeks ago the controversy over whether Romney was responsible for employee lay-offs in companies acquired by Bain Capital. Sununu swore up and down on shows like Andrea Mitchell's in his typical arrogant, bullying style that Romney had nothing to do with Bain whatsoever from 1999 onward when most of the firings occurred because he was running the Olympics. Sununu openly laughed at and mocked Andrea Mitchell on her own show when she tried to challenge his statement. A few days later when mountains of evidence came out tying Romney to Bain up to 2003, Sununu stopped appearing on shows for awhile. Sununu can't help insulting interviewers on whose shows he appears and making an assclown and an underwear skidmark of himself, it seems.

they may as well concede the election right now.

The facts are not on their side, and neither are the Electoral College numbers, so they have no choice but to bloviate, obfuscate, distort, and lie. Thus, there ARE no Romney spoxs that will answer questions with facts. Although, you're right, they can and probably will find one that won't insult the host if they expect the campaign to survive.

Sununu was working right on message with his lies and distortions about Obama and Medicare. The only thing he did wrong was to insult her integrity, personally, which (IMHO) sent her on the fact checking mission the next day.

He's not an "official spokesman" for the Romney Campaign. (They specifically label him a 'Romney surrogate.') Which means that he can sling this kind of mud, and if it damages Obama...fine. If he goes too far, on the other hand, Romney can claim he doesn't even know the guy.

fact. The word 'surrogate' means he is a stand in for the actual candidate. The definition of 'surrogate' is 'one that serves as a substitute'. Surrogate is an extremely specific term, it is not the same as simply being there as another Republican he was there as a substitute for Romney and as you say, labeled exactly that way.

because reporters generally do not do what Ms O'Brien is doing-- taking on the one percenter
propagandists.

this is why I stopped watching the tallking Bobblehead shows, oh, 12 years ago. these guys are
useless. they trade "access" to certain politicians by kissing their phat arses, lobbiing them softball
questions, and _not_ challenging their responses.

NPR is guilty of this too,

I doubt Ms O'Brien will get access to the lying GOP pols after this.. and I can more or less guarantee you
CNN management phones have been jangling with calls from GOP powers that be.

F them.

if CNN want to get their cred back, they should continue to let Ms O'Brien do what she is doing.
