And now I'm embarrased. The fucking Tea Party and Akin are making us look like Alabama.

(13,390 posts)The smart thing would be for them to recruit Sarah Steelman, and politically they aren't always dumb.

(36,469 posts)Vision of Palin stumping for her, and the 24/7 Lamestream Media coverage of Sarah's every move scares me.

Now that is embarrassing

(102,379 posts)my entire family was from Missouri. I lived my earliest years there and have nothing but fond memories of time with Grandparents and relatives there later on. But, while MO has been more sane compared to what has been going on in Kansas the past two years, its regressive politics have been accelerating for decades now. I adore the people of rural farm country in Missouri and still have friends in the KC suburbs and in the city that I love going back to visit. There are many that I feel I "grew up with," but heavens, statewide they have been only second to Kansas in voting against their best interests. It is devastating to think of those who barely scraped by 20 years ago, trying to do so now. While I have my share of RW nuts to deal with in CO, the trends in MO have been comparatively devastating.
Maybe as Kansas continues down that sorry path and now with the acknowledgement of Akin's intense ignorance, there will be a collective wake up call. I wish you and all our MO DUers only the best of luck in prevailing.
I've never before associated the politics of my state with my own personality, or feared that others may do so, but this is actually embarrasing to me - a first in my life.

(25,415 posts)Though I suppose in context she is just a moderate Repub idiot. The joys of living in Connecticut is most Repubs never get so extreme. Akin would be laughed at in CT the minute he opened his mouth.

(1,013 posts)And I do, in fact its about time to "email" Mr. Womack once again. You know he enjoys hearing from me, as much as a boil on his rearend.
How did Womack end up in Boozeman's office, and how come we never hear about Senator Boozeman?
I've not been in Arkansas long enough to know the background/history.

(27,247 posts)The Hutchinson Brothers (Asa and Tim, former Republican Congressman and US Senator, respectively) are both from neighboring Bentonville. That is, they're all from Benton County, home of Wal-Mart and rich Republicans. Both bu$h and McCain made several stops in the rich man's playground of Pinnacle Hills (officially in Rogers but just down the pike from Wal-Mart world headquarters in Bentonville), and I wouldn't be surprised if they had a hand in anointing Womack and Boozman.
