My wife's book about her breast cancer is now out in Spanish
It's been 14 years since Leonore had a mastectomy. Every year on that anniversary, we breathe just a bit more easily.
A few years after her surgery, she wrote a short book about the experience and how it had affected her. Later, she updated the book considerably, including adding a numer of appendices filled with useful information, and retitled it Another Chance at Life: A Breast Cancer Survivor's Journey. Since she's a Spanish tutor and has Spanish-speaking friends, she's long wanted to have a Spanish edition of the book. That's also an underserved market. There are a lot of books in English about breast cancer, including other memoirs by breast-cancer survivors, but there seem to be very few in Spanish.
Now the Spanish version is finally out, titled Una nueva oportunidad a la vida: El camino de una sobreviviente de cáncer de seno. Like the English version, it has been published both as an e-book and a print edition. (Details are on her Web site: http://www.leonoredvorkin.com.)
In a way, this feels to her like her journey back from breast cancer is finally complete.
