Storm quashes Jindal convention appearance, again


BATON ROUGE - Gov. Bobby Jindal will be 0-for-2 as a governor at Republican National Conventions in the last eight years. "I'm not going anywhere," Jindal told a news conference Sunday dealing with preparations for Tropical Storm Isaac, which is expected to become a hurricane in the next few days and currently is forecast to hit the Louisiana-Mississippi coast on Tuesday.

Jindal spokeswoman Shannon Bates said he was scheduled to address the convention around 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Jindal, who has been a surrogate speaker for the Romney campaign and a party fundraiser, said that with Isaac's unpredictable course through the Gulf of Mexico and Louisiana in harm's way, he is going to stay put.

"My priority is the safety of our people," Jindal said. "I'm not going anywhere.
