Isaac stalled over New Orleans . . .

I'm watching a live feed on CNN and they're saying that it's stalled directly over New Orleans. They're saying the experts are stumped as to why it's just stopped moving. The winds are hurricane force (80 mph) but poor N'Awlins (my favorite city of all time, btw) is just getting hammered. I'm hearing there's now a huge storm surge as well.

Positive Vibes to residents of The Big Easy.

then 1/2" rainfall per hour after that (not sure for how many hours.) Let's hope they can handle it.

Also sending positive vibes to NOLA!

A storm moving slow or stopped builds up a lot more surge... as does a large one like Isaac. I got friends in Bay St Louis, just east of NOLA.

Earlier reports I saw said it tracked back to the SW, now its completely stopped, and then it started forming a small inner eye. The 7 year anniversary landfall is also pretty strange.

I hope it gets to moving, everyone is safe, and it heads to Eastern KS -we need a few inches of rain.

At 02:00 local time (07:00 GMT) the Category One hurricane was almost stationery about 70 miles (110km) south of New Orleans, according to the US National Hurricane Centre (NHC).

Officials say Isaac is likely to weaken before it reaches New Orleans.

I guess its inevitable there will be reports which contradict each other.
