Even if Akin is forced out by the GOP won't a lot of his supporters...
just not vote? because they will be upset by the way the party treated him and didn't rally to support him when all he did was parrot what so many in the GOP say? So, I don't think that getting him out automatically helps the GOP win the Senate contest in Missouri. I think many perhaps thousands of republicans would take it out on the party by not voting for the candidate the party regulars replace him with--and they may even just sit out the presidential race due to the lack of support, too, from Romney and Ryan.
GOP Still Working to Push Akin Out
Sen. Roy Blunt (R-MO) said that he believes Rep. Todd Akin (R) will ultimately decide to withdraw his U.S. Senate bid in Missouri, The Hill reports.
Said Blunt: "I didn't say I was confident ... I'm hopeful he will and I believe he will. He's an engineer, he's a quantitative guy. I think at some point you have to add up the columns here, and my belief is that by anyway you add them up, they don't add up."
Meanwhile, John Fund reports "behind-the-scenes efforts to figure out a way to have Akin exit from the Senate race before the final deadline of September 25 continue unabated."
