Just got this posted on my facebook wall from a relative. Can someone who's been keeping up more with the convention help me with debunking or countering this? Or if it's really all true, then so be it I guess...but my bullshit detector is in the red (pun intended).
The article came from a "blog for young conservatives". I'll quote the first four paragraphs and I hope I won't catch a ration of shit for linking it as well:

MSNBC wants you to think the Republican Party hates minorities. So much so that the liberal news network cut minority speeches from its convention coverage.
When popular Tea Party candidate Ted Cruz, the GOP nominee for Senate, took the stage, MSNBC cut away from the Republican National Convention and the Hispanic Republican from Texas speech.
MSNBC stayed on commercial through former Democratic Rep. Artur Davis speech, as well. Davis, who recently became a Republican, is black.
Then, when Puerto Rican Governor Luis Fortunos wife Luce Vela Fortuño took the stage minutes later, MSNBC hosts Rachel Maddow and Chris Matthews opted to talk over the First Ladys speech.
I would really appreciate some perspective on this if any of you would care to help out.

I just responded and asked if when they were watching Faux news coverage if they saw anything on the CNN camera woman being racially attacked. Surprise, no response yet.

(5,420 posts)If I run into it again I will come post it for you. I don't imagine they had many minority speakers to begin with and the stations can only show so much of the show that, if they cut two, that would prolly do it.

Both networks aired the speeches by NH Senator Kelly Ayotte, Ohio Governor John Kasich, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell, Ann Romney, and NJ Gov. Chris Christie.
But for minority speakers, heres a handy guide to how the rival networks broke down coverage:
Mia Love: MNSBC was in commercial; Fox aired Shepard Smiths coverage of Hurricane Isaac from New Orleans.
Brian Sandoval: MSNBC aired hurricane coverage; Foxs Sean Hannity interviewed Rep. Eric Cantor.
Ted Cruz: MSNBC cut to panel analysis of the convention; Fox went to commercial and returned with a Scott Walker interview.
Artur Davis: MSNBC aired panel discussion, mentioned his speech 5 minutes in, but didnt air it; Fox aired the entirety of the speech.
Nikki Haley: both MSNBC and Fox News aired the speech.
Lucé Vela Fortuño: MSNBC aired more roundtable discussion; Fox News cut away to discussion by Bret Baier and Megyn Kelly.
So with the exception of former Rep. Davis, MSNBC did not omit any speeches that Fox News did not also omit.

(8,601 posts)I shared this, and the story of the cretin throwing nuts at the CNN camera lady, to my own facebook wall. This way the fundy will see it but can't delete it from her own garbage like she did when my wife went after her over the Chik-Fil-A bigotry.

(5,044 posts)Primetime speakers, Keynote speakers and the national candidates. If individuals want to see complete coverage without interruption they need to head to CSPAN. ALL TELEVISION NETWORKS have financial obligations and therefor must integrate commercials and commentary, they need funding.
If your relative is not seeing length speeches by minorities, chances are because they are A) Not a primetime speaker, B) Not a Keynote speaker, C) Not on the National Ballot (Networks provide national coverage) D) Not a spouse of a national candidate.

(811 posts)USA!USA!USA! when the Lady from PR took the stage?
As the camera panned the audience during the night's speeches, I looked carefully for non-white faces. I thought I finally saw one, but it turned out to be Condi Rice and she doesn't count.
You relative can't blame MSNBC for the GOP's racism.

(8,601 posts)You gave me two excellent stories to post on my own wall to counter what I knew had to be at least 75% bullshit.
Big, big thanks to you for your prompt responses!

(377 posts)I don't have to watch propaganda, just because the Repugs want me to. It was RMoney-Ruin who cut Sarah Palin's speech to zero seconds. It was Fox Newz who cut Sarah Palin's speeches (plural) in Tampa to zero. They must be democrats too, hmmm.
