Me: And while on the subject of Lyin' Ryan, why let a little thing like facts get in the way. Oh yeah, "we won't let our campaign be dictated by fact-checkers"
Ryan talks about a plant closure, closed under Bush, and blames it on Obama.

Me: And Fox News even calls Lyin' Ryan, the Boy Blunder out on his lies!! I think hell may have actually frozen over!!

xxxx: Nice try - yes Sally Kohn is on Fox but she's a liberal and a biased one at that; she's not a journalist, she's a commentator and she's on Fox to present things in that Fox fair and balanced way. Also Ryan didn't blame Obama for closing the Janesville plant - yes Obama supporters will say that over and over - he blamed Obama for saying 1) Government aid could keep it open - it didn't and 2) for the fact that despite all the stimulus monies spent today Janesville GM plant is till closed, nothing was done to repurpose it or set a foundation down to put a path in place for the folks who used to have jobs to get jobs. The fact he stated is today, despite 3 1/2 years of being in power 1 year of which the Democrats controlled both the Legislative and executive branches - 23 million are wither unemployed or underemployed. I haven't fact checked that yet but that's the one number that should make or break reelection of President Obama in my view. As for Ms. Kohn the author you are citing here's her bio on wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sally_Kohn

Me: xxxx, by your comments you're then saying that Fox is printing it not because it's true but because they're trying to present a liberal's case. Nice try. Either it is false, which further adds credence to the fact that Fox News routinely presents half-truths and bullshit, or it's true in which case Ryan is actually lying. It can't be both and you can't have it both ways.

Me: So who is correct, Fox News or Paul Ryan. It can't be both. If Fox News is not correct it only bolsters the case that they are not "fair and balanced". If Paul Ryan is not correct it only bolsters the case that the Republican Party is lying and will say and do anything to discredit Obama. Choose your answer carefully, either way you're backed into a corner.

Me: xxxx, I'll spot you the Huffington Post piece. Yes, that one may actually be biased. But if you truly believe that Fox News is "fair and balanced" and everything that comes from them is the gospel truth, then you have to believe that that "fact check" by their in-house hired weak assed paid to make them look "fair and balanced" so called "liberal" is also true. You cannot discredit it for if you do, then the whole premise that Fox is a "fair and balanced" news organization falls apart.

xxxxxxxx: I'm curious xxxxxx; what do you consider as an unbiased news source? When you do cite your sources they don't appear to me to be anything close to unbiased.

xxxxxxxxx: By the way great thread here; finally something of substance to read; thanks Bob and Marc for the education!

Me: xxxx, Fox News, for one, is an unbiased source if you believe the slogan "fair and balanced". I've been told for years that Fox News was fair and unbiased, I thought you guys thought Fox News was the gospel truth. I'm using it as a source and now you're trying to tell me they may be biased? Make up you mind, they are either biased or they are not. I'm quoting a source you consider unbiased. What more do you want? Or do you want it both ways? There's a name for this, "pretzel logic". Both cannot be true, unless you want to disregard the "fact checker" and create your own reality.
So how do they reconcile their biases with the unbiased reality they think is Fox News. I'm having so much fun with this, imagining their heads exploding!!

(7,429 posts)They are the only ones who tell the truth. Liberals have no idea what they're talking about. Like Scott Walker last night on MSNBC. He was called on the BS and he started talking over Al Sharpton and Ed Schulz. Schmucks - all of them!

(17,651 posts)is a totally opposite world. It's like Foxnews.com and Fox News TV are 2 completely different entities, owned and operated by different people.
They have been fact checking the fact checking. Big problem is, the Fox News TV version leaves out (surprise) the facts.
Perfect example is the GM plant closing which has been factchecked not only by Fox News.com but several other sources yet FoxNews TV blames Candidate Obama soon-to-become President Obama for (basically) forcing GM to shelf the closing and force them to reopen the plant.
On the TV screen the graphics read President Obama while the speaker was talking about CANDIDATE Obama.
I despise Fox News, I don't watch it but it was so unbelievable that the Fox website would admit that their candidate lied.
So to the Fox News TV audience, it's STILL Obama's fault that thousands of workers were laid off.
It's really twisted politics going on. Not sure what to make of it and I apologize if I can't make this more understandable.

xxxx: what was it about my question that you didn't understand? I made no statement other than to intimate your proclivity to use biased sources?

Me: But xxxx, I DID use an unbiased source this time, my proclivity to use biased sources in the past notwithstanding. Fox News!! I finally used an impeachable source you consider pure as the driven snow and completely unbiased and now you call me on THAT? What more do you want? I used a source you consider unbiased. Or are you now saying that somehow Fox may be biased?

xxxx: And in the interest of being "fair and balanced" from this side, I did spot xxxx notice that Huffington Post may be biased. I did make that concession because Fox may actually be right and unbiased on their reporting of Ryan's alleged lies. So, you're now telling me I may be using a biased source? Please make up your mind!
