Obama: A Pedestrian and Overconfident Speech
by Michael Tomasky Sep 7, 2012 12:50 AM EDT

Let’s be blunt. Barack Obama gave a dull and pedestrian speech tonight, with nary an interesting thematic device, policy detail, or even one turn of phrase. The crowd sure didn’t see it my way. The delegates were near delirium; to what extent they were merely still feeding off the amassed energy of the previous two nights I can’t say.

And swing voters watching at home? They probably weren’t as bored as I was, but it seems inconceivable that they’d have been enraptured. This was the rhetorical equivalent, forgive the football metaphor, of running out the clock: Obama clearly thinks he’s ahead and just doesn’t need to make mistakes. But when football teams do that, it often turns out to be the biggest mistake of all, and they lose.

Who predicted the 201,000 jobs number and why? Inquiring & suspicious minds want to know.

I knew the media would try to be a buzzkill today and so far they are succeeding. We must not let our guard down.

Did all the pundits think Obama could fix 8 years of absolute disaster in one term, especially with the Repubs united against him?

This election really is a battle between those who want to make the whole country like the South in post-Reconstruction: government by the few, of the few, and for the few and those who want a democracy.

John Roberts will go down in history as the man who allowed the US government to be sold to the highest bidder.

interrupting and asking for details of the Romney economic plan...

Romney's rep even said.. well see Romney's 52 point plan (or whatever #) and Carol said.. No one reads those!

So, here's hoping details in Pres Obama's speech, which may not have been inspirational, have pushed Romney's campaign on their lack of articulating their real economic plan
