went crazy saying each one needed exact flow-rate settings, etc.

I don't think even they get that in this circumstance "close" might have to be good enough and they are going to have to adapt. Maybe one or two of those 9 aren't optimally ventilated, but the other 7 might be ventilated well enough to live. Obviously, one would have to use that on patients with similar needs.
