Gainesville pastor Terry Jones has american blood on his hands.....

The U.S. ambassador to Libya and three American members of his staff were reportedly killed Tuesday in riots sparked by outrage at a film backed by Gainesville pastor Terry Jones, the Gainesville pastor whose burning of Korans last year led to days of rioting in Afghanistan.

The deaths were reported by Libyan officials after attacks on U.S. diplomatic compounds in Benghazi, Libya's second largest city, and Cairo, Egypt. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton acknowledged the film, which conservative Muslims said denigrated Islam and its holiest figure, Muhammad, as the likely cause, although she made it clear she felt "there is never any justification for violent acts of this kind."

Jones and other backers of the film, Muhammad, were unapologetic about the role they may have had in triggering the violence.

"The fact that angry protesters climbed the wall at the U.S. Embassy in Cairo today, ripped down the American flag and tore it apart further indicates the lack of respect that Islam has for any other religion, any other flag, any freedom of speech, freedom of expression and freedom of religion," Jones said Tuesday in a statement released before the death in Benghazi was confirmed. "It further illustrates that they have no tolerance for anything outside of Muhammad."

and tolerance.
He should be on his knees praying to his god that he can be forgiven for damaging the world and killing his fellow citizens.

That's what lack of education and fundieness gets you...

Don't think for one second that our fundies on this side wouldn't pull the same shit if we had 78% of the population with Fred Phelps or Terry Jones way of thinking.

I would like to walk up to everyone involved in this, look at them in the face and just say, "are you stupid?" Really? You are going to destroy shit and kill people over a stupid video put up by some idiot in a country 1000's of miles away? Don't you have anything a little more constructive you can do with your time? Maybe cut your toenails or fix your neighbors car or go to school or something? This is what you do on your free time?

The Libyans are certainly wrong to react as they did, but Jones is certainly wrong to incite them, knowing how they'd react. I'd love to see him get the cojones to go over there and preach his shit.

As well as my sister.

That makes me very nervous.

He needs to be banished to a desert island or something of the sort.

He didn't kill anybody, he didn't riot in the streets in Egypt or Libya. He promoted a film, an act of free speech. The ones who are responsible, who have American blood on their hands are the religious fundamentalists who decided to riot and kill because they were offended by a film.

in the long run we will only silence ourselves. As soon as the next gang of thugs threaten violence we will be obligated to withhold any opinion that *they* get to deem "inflammatory."

If someone cannot see how that would be exploited I don't know what else to say.

If you want to begin to curb your right to speak because some nut job half a world away might get offended you go right ahead but be prepared to do so when some nut job in this country goes off because they didn't like what you SAID as well.
