One last heartfelt THANK YOU to my DU family & a pitch for homeless dogs & cats

I am so thrilled, relieved, and humbled to report that because of your generosity my eviction has been cancelled. I was able to come up with enough cash and that, along with the PayPal receipt showing how much was being transferred into my checking account, was enough for the landlord to tear up the eviction notice and cancel the court date scheduled for tomorrow. I am still stunned by your generosity and support during a very trying time in my life. I can't begin to thank you enough. Here's a link for those who don't know what the heck I'm talking about:

Now for a small pay it forward request, I want to tell you about www.freekibble.com and www.freekibblekat.com. It's a site where you answer a little trivia question every day and they donate free kibble to shelter dogs and cats throughout the country. It doesn't matter if you answer the question correctly or not, the only thing that matters is that you visit the site. There is a daily question about dogs and a daily question about cats. It's fun and it does great work. They donated a LOT of kibble to animals left homeless by the recent Hurricane Isaac. From their website:

About Us
Every dog and cat deserves a decent dinner

Freekibble.com was launched in 2008, as the vision of then 11 year-old, Mimi Ausland. Mimi wanted to feed the hungry dogs and cats at her local shelter. "There are 10's of thousands of dogs and cats in animal shelters across the country, all needing to be fed a good meal." With this goal in mind, Freekibble was created.

Today, the Freekibble Network reaches over 500,000 passionate pet-lovers. This loyal community has helped us feed over 7 million meals to homeless dogs and cats in shelters, rescues and food-banks across the country (see map).

Freekibble.com and Freekibblekat.com are now two of the five most-visited animal rescue web sites in the world, with over 115,000 combined daily visitors.

Thanks to our Official Kibble Sponsor, Halo, Purely for Pets, we are able to donate the highest quality, all natural kibble, for happier, healthier pets while they wait for their forever homes.

All of us at Freekibble are committed to Mimi's original dream that "Every dog and cat deserves a decent dinner". And, we're dedicated to the primary mission of feeding nutritious food to as many shelter dogs and cats as we possibly can.

Thanks to everyone for supporting Freekibble and helping to make a difference!

Halo is Ellen DeGeneres's pet food company, so that's an extra reason to support the site.

Once again, thank you all from the bottom of my heart. As I wrote in some private e-mails, you saved my home. You saved my cats. And you saved my life.

Careful, it's addictive, but it's the same basic concept and very challenging in the upper levels.

I'm glad you can stay where you are and I'm sorry if I gave you false hope about taking the cats. It was just my gut reaction - and I'm a softie.

And that you get to keep your kitties safe and with you. Your story still brings tears to my eyes, both for the sadness of the situation you were in and because of the beauty of watching so many people band together to help one of our own.
