Bernie Sanders to CNN: "What this is about is not complicated. Trump may be crazy, but he's not stupid. And he looks at polling. He is behind. And I think what he and his friends believe [is] that if they can suppress the vote ... they have a better chance to win the election."

(17,757 posts)I think he is crazy, but it has been demonstrated, over and over, that he is also stupid.
His super power is the drive of a madman who seeks to continue his destructive binge by any means necessary. He is in a position that he has nothing to lose. If he loses the election, he ego is shattered, his power is gone, his legacy will be spoiled and he may end up broke and in prison; to Trump, disgrace and defeat is a fate worse than death. He knows that if he, and his party, wins the election, all of his problems can be fixed.
As long as Trump has the support of the blind and deaf Republicans he can use all of the power of the President of the United States, in any way he wishes, with impunity, because the election will be decided before the legal system has time react. For that reason, we can expect continuing and escalating abuse of power up to and even after the election. I don't think we have seen anything yet.
Trump is a wild animal, and he is cornered, don't be surprised by his reactions.

(16,616 posts)He sits down with guys like William Barr, his White House counselors, and Stephen Miller and Kushner. Steve Bannon has probably come up with ideas for how to cheat. People like this are figuring these tactics out.

Is he still the Outreach chair? If so, this would be an ideal pace to "reach out".

(26,081 posts)Can't remember which comedian said it, but it's like the criminal in a movie who is about to kill the good guy, but when asked to explain his diabolical plan, does so in detail, giving the hero the time to escape.
Trump doesn't remember what he did yesterday.

(6,063 posts)Republicans. The chief enemy of Democrats is our belief that we are smart and others are stupid.
We have been acting the binary simpletons and have been losing since 2000. We could not sustain wins against Mitch McConnell even when we had the White House.
Intelligence is more complicated than smart/stupid.

(26,081 posts)Riling up people's anger and fear is what Republicans do. Trump just took it to extremes.
