One of my brothers in law had a triple bypass a few weeks ago

Last edited Wed Sep 26, 2012, 09:31 PM - Edit history (1)

He returned home and is recuperating. He watched David Corn exposing Mr 47%'s video. He got so angry that he decided that they would vote early in case he didn't make it, so on the first day of early voting they marked that X for Barack Obama and sent everyone in the family two photos of the ballot with the X for Obama and a simple message - listen family and friends - get off your ass and vote for Obama - vote against Mr 47%.

That brother in law is the least political member of the family. He told me on the phone that if he dies before the election he has done his duty for the next two generations.

I'm sending him some blue mountain coffee.

So let's start looking for the ballot with Andy Williams' name on it. You know he would have voted for Mittens.

is nearly universal after heart surgery. Let him know it will pass and he'll get well in spite of himself as long as he takes his drugs, takes his walks, and doesn't pick up another cigarette as long as he lives.

But yeah, I know where he's coming from. I'll be voting on the first early day here at the beginning of next month.

After he recovers from the surgery, your BIL will feel better than he has in years now that his heart is working right.

Give him a hug for me.
BIL's feeling much better already - now for the regular exercise which will be much harder for him.
A co-worker's grandmother died last Friday at 102. She was watching Jeopardy (which she did from Monday to Friday)- said darn after a question and collapsed.
She died before she reached the hospital from a heart attack. That women was one of the lucky people on this planet - she had great health most of her life.

He should be able to have a couple of cups of coffee a day.
It sounds like it's a genetic thing in His Family! He is blessed with a spunky personality!

(I've been a nurse in intensive care (coronary) for 38 yrs--the medical not surgical ICU--and we've allowed some coffee
for about 8 yrs. now.) A glass of red wine at dinner is also good!

send him some de-caf and some fully loaded coffee. If he can't quit the caffine cold turkey I recommend 1/2 caf, slowly decreasing the caf over a few weeks.

send him an MP3 player with some of his favorite songs already preloaded on it. He should be walking a mile a day which is about 15 -20 minutes.

Songs I rec:

Stevie Nicks; Stop dragging my heart around
Janis Joplin; Piece O my Heart
Heart; Heartless
Billy Ray Cyrus; Achy Breaky Heart

You get the idea.

Open heart. Now you know what my patients had to put up with. Day one they hated me with all their heart. By day 3 I was singing them Hotel California when I walked into their room. They would ask me to stop because it hurt to laugh, to which I always replied...then don't laugh. Try to work in this phrase into the convo... Button up your shirt, your heart is falling out. Keeping a positive attitude does help with the recovery and humor is the best medicine.
