The Killer Post

I'm plagued by people who want to keep repeating Ralph Nader's lie from 2000 and 2004 that "there's not a dimes worth of difference" between Democrats and Republicans. I'd like to write "The Killer Post" to rebut them.

In the spirit of Monty Python's "The Killer Joke", I'm going to post notes I'm making to myself, and ask ya'all to suggest any and all improvements you can think of, because I think this false and malicious meme may lead to a few more years of survival than the GOP can manage without the help of "lefties". And I REALLY despise the GOP.

I'll view any and all criticism as constructive. Let's put our heads together and not just win an election, but drive a stake through the heart of the GOP. Which, when you think about it, advances the Democratic cause.

Keep in mind, these are only notes. It's NOT ready to post, yet, and yeah, I already know some of the "anger" shouldn't be there. Feel free to point out the flaws, including "the anger", anyway.

But add your positive reasons why "Democrats aren't just like Republicans", as well. I may put this through several iterations. Add to the notes to self, it that's your thing. Thank you in advance.

==============

Our parent's generation knew the John Birch Society was crazy. The modern GOP makes JBS look sane.

The GOP represents the extremity of the right wing on every issue. A majority sometimes, a sizable minority of Democrats are RW on some issues (military, for sure), "liberal" on others (mostly social; gay marriage, which is equal rights for all, abortion, which is not killing women like my grand-daughter to save a fetus that's not viable, etc.), and "in the middle" on others (campaign finance reform comes to mind).

There are liberal Democrats. Republicans aren't allowed to vote their conscience. Dissent from the party's extremist stance is met with defeat in the next election. "Ideological purity" in its purist form. The teabaggers have siezed control.

I'm not "a Democrat". I'm not "a liberal". I believe in fiscal responsibility and Keynesian economics. I"m an "uber-liberal" on social issues. Balance the budget as soon as the GOP-caused recession is over. Give EVERY American equal rights, freedom from having religion forced on them, and the right to say things that most of us find abhorrent IS the constitution and bill of rights.

The Democrats are "center-right". The GOP is laughably off-the-charts far right wing extremist.

"You" want a third party? Don't be ridiculous. We haven't had 3 successful parties in our entire 236 years. Not once.

So, what's left? Here's an idea;

Get rid of the GOP. Let the Democrats be the right-wing party, and support a left wing party to counter them.

And here's the thing;

I think we can do it in our lifetime. Maybe as soon as 2016.

The racist GOP has ZERO support among latinos (other than an aging populaton of Cubans in Florida). Old Cubans in Florida will die. That's not a "death wish", so don't start on me. It's a simple fact. Old people die more often than young people.

Latinos are moving into southern states, including Texas "and" the bible belt, at (what is to the RW extremist GOP) "an alarming rate". As long as the Democrats stand for "a path to citizenship" while the GOP stands for "he ain't white and his English ain't so good ... why should he have the same rights I have" there's a sizable voting bloc to counter the bugfuck crazy fundagelics who have controlled Southern elections since well before Nixon adopted "the Southern strategy" of pandering to those absolutely insane people who let their preacher tell them who to vote for.

Democrats have stayed away from "gun grabbing" for nearly a generation. "That dog won't hunt" for the GOP for much longer.

If Obama's re-elected, "Obamacare" is going to kick in, in full. People WILL like being able to afford to see a doctor when they're sick. I know. I just had a toothache and I am SO grateful I could afford dental care. GOOD dental care, not "it hurts, go ahead and yank it" dental care. Obamacare alone will make some teabaggers think twice, and the rest of us sane people think "ya know, there really IS a difference between the two parties. Nader went crazy when he got older."

Notes:

Kucinich lost.

Hillary lost.

DiFi is a war monger.

LIbermann knows better than to run again.

Scott Brown, arguably "the most liberal" GOP Senator left, voted against Obamacare, regulation of the banksters...
