The ratings bump MSNBC is enjoying right now means only one thing:

The Romney hating Republicans are watching.
It's eating them alive and they are secretly reveling in the bad news about the GOP candidate delivered by Rachel and Lawrence each night.
Eat it GOP.
Cry all you want, there will be more bad news tomorrow and on Nov. 6th

FAUX keeps talking about Libya and the embassy bombing. They are convinced there is some kind of cover-up by the White House. The FAUX watchers are bored with the story and have tuned them out.

where if you ask them if they watch Fox News, they say "Oh, no, I don't" because they are ashamed of it being so biased, but you know damn well they are because they spew the Fox News talking points.

When you are ashamed to admit you watch a channel, it eventually sinks in that maybe, just maybe, you ought to watch a different channel to get information.

...they used to be a threat because people took them seriously. Now EVERYONE knows they are propaganda.

In addition, they have a 70+ demographic so their audience is literally dying off.

I would give two reasons.

One: Winners draw a crowd. Just like in sports, people start to tune in when a team gets on a winning streak. Lot of progressives that normally keep a casual day-to-day connection with news are probably more enthused about what is going on right now.

Two: A lot of the news lately has been very Audio/visual in nature. Riots in the mid east and controversial statements from candidates beg for TV over radio, print or blogs. People are hearing about controversies all day long and tuning in at night to get the A/V.

I know I have tuned in more recently for both of these reasons. Many like myself have video feed to our internet connections blocked due to work restrictions and firewalls. Whenever there is juicy video embedded in a news item I have to get it later.

The afternoon line-up were the pundits in the Convention and lots of people heard them for the first time. So they decided to listen some more. Obviously it's because they're saying something people want to hear.

Being angry and fearful all the time isn't for everyone. Sometimes cool analysis and a little humor is a balm.

Also...unlike us, they have been listening to Mitt for years. They would know better than anyone what a lying, flip-flopping POS he is.

Also....remember how they made such a "to do" over Obama being an elistist? And that's only because he likes arugula, he doesn't have a car elevation.

Maybe some of them have finally realized that pushing for tax cuts for the wealthy will only help the wealthy.
