As I went around town I noticed a huge difference from the 2008 election. There wasnt a single sign for either Romney or Murdock. There were no bumper stickers. The town was covered with McCain signs last time. The one stalwart who had Obama signs last time has moved so there were none of his signs either.
Driving home to North Carolina I passed through the most conservative part of Indiana. I also went through Kentucky, West Virginia, Virginia, and into North Carolina. Nowhere was there a single Romney sign or bumper sticker. I saw one Ron Paul truck in Kentucky. I saw an Obama sign when I got to Winston Salem.
This makes me wonder if the Republicans are planning on sitting this one out like the Democrats did in 2010? Are Republicans disgusted with their candidate because he is either not tea party enough or because he isnt human enough?
If the Republicans are going to sit this one out it is imperative that we do not. We need to get out the vote and make sure we give Obama a filibuster proof Senate and the House back. Let the Republicans sit on their hands this time. We need to GOTV.

(31,518 posts)I haven't seen any for the Presidential race at all. We don't have a Senator up for election this year and our Democratic Congressional candidate withdrew from the race after it was discovered that he exaggerated his military service, so the Republican incumbent is pretty much a shoo-in.

. . . . but in comparison to McClown/Failin, W'04 when they were in vogue . . . hell, even anti-Obama stickers now . . . not even close. Nobody is enthused about R-Money like they were with Dubya or even McCain.

(95,337 posts)This is GOP country so I would expect to see stickers everywhere. I saw a few anti-Obama ones but nothing endorsing Mitt. This was right before the convention (but after Ryan was picked)

(95,337 posts)that would add an extra 90minutes to my trip. I take the Blue Route up to the NE Extension and get off at Jim Thorpe. It's Technically Eastern Lycoming County so it's quicker to head north and go east.

(47,675 posts)There's GOT to be a Cracker Barrel out there, but I'd prefer a bar. Actually, Allentown would be most convenient - 81 to 78 for me. Let me know next time. I haven't had a "DU Meetup" yet.

(657 posts)or old faded Bush stickers than Romney ones. I even see cars with a bunch of anti Obama stickers, but no Romney.

(9,213 posts)It's been kind of weird that they all popped up at the same time, like they were all waiting to get them out to see if Romney was really going to be the candidate or not.
Still no Akin signs though. The 2 that were on my street have long since been removed and have not returned.
