I'm not quite sure why this show gets so much contempt. Brickbat Sep 2012 #1
It's a show? Sorry. I shut off the TV in '82. It took months to figure out what a Snooki was. HopeHoops Sep 2012 #3
Same here. Snooki has something to do with New Jersy and Polly Shore zinnisking Sep 2012 #13
All I know about her is that she's a plump chick with too much makeup on some TV show. HopeHoops Sep 2012 #16

These people generally seem to like each other, and they don't give a shit what others think.

Well, and then there's Bill Maher's comment - "The government is like Snooki's vagina. It's way too big, it services too many people, and nothing good will ever come out of it." (direct quote). Other than that, I don't know and really don't give a shit.

I agree with you: the show is kinda nuts, but they all love and support one another very much (even their gay pig).

And I'll admit it, I was prepared to dump all over it. But at least they're not fake-fighting about made-up slights. I'll take farting on camera any day over that. Farts are at least funny.

Cracked.com had a really good article a few weeks ago about why this IS a good show, and is actually quite real and sweet.

But, given that I 1. HATE REALITY TV

2. am not fond of precocious children pushed into the spotlight by their parents

and

3. am extremely wary, given the apparent disgusting shows centering around the child pageants and dance contests,

I've never seen any of this and don't intend to.

But, still... what the hell is the national fixation on this child and her show? Can someone explain it to me without making me watch any of this?

was on the "Last Word". I don't like reality shows generally but these folks are having fun rather than fighting and moaning all the time. I think if you can let yourself not take life so seriously it can be fun to watch.

They watch it to feel superior about themselves.

The same reason repugs watch, Cops, so they can feel superior then all those lazy criminals.

Hell, I'm Southern and live just one state up from where she lives and I have to read the subtitles to understand what she's saying.
