Can anyone confirm this as the cause of the lack of yard signs ?
I know that certain kinds of campaigning are on the decline but it seems like this in a fundamental error if true or a convenient lie to cover the lack of popularity of the candidate currently.
But I have to admit there is a severe lack of signs of all sorts everywhere and a huge lack of hand-printed anything.

(115,735 posts)But then, I probably wouldn't see them here in the People's Republic of Minneapolis. However, yard signs tend to be one of the more expensive campaign items, and I'm guessing that many Republicans everywhere are too unenthusiastic about mittens to spend $10 on one.
Come to think of it, I haven't even seen any bumper stickers, and those are cheap.

(234 posts)it looks pretty bad, I think because her Mexican yard crew is a bit careless when taking it out and replacing it, it's got tape all over holding the plastic in place and I've often thought it looks stressed, like the candidate . Her sign is also awfully lonely here in the Chicago area, hers is the only one I've seen. I've been tempted to cross out the IC part of "Believe in America" and change it to CI, but I won't because I don't want her to retaliate on my Obama Biden sign.

(40,168 posts)They seem to be all over the place - homes, businesses, intersections. Really sickening.
The only place I haven't see them is Provincetown. P-Town is papered exclusively with Elizabeth Warren and Barack Obama signs.

(15,472 posts)Rained out, shit . But I have noticed some anti -Liberals the last five years or so especially North Eastham where we stay, I was scrutinized by a group of four sixty somethings and heard as I walked by " he looks like he belongs on wall street " I said " but I don't look like a broker, Oh!!! it's a compliment, thanks " I embarrass my poor wife so much.

I've seen many RMoney stickers too.

(32,610 posts)is also not spending money on chum this time. Where I live the yard signs cost $15 and the bumper stickers are 2 for $5.
I thought about it for awhile and think they are right to use the money for other things. Example: see this article from the Washington Post -
Obama campaign registers 250,000 voters in North Carolina as it tries to keep the state close

(3,069 posts)I drive the same few routes everyday/frequently, and had seen only a couple of Romney signs, even at homes festooned with other GOP signs.... until this morning. Signs blossomed overnight, or very, very recently on my lesser traveled route(s). I hadn't seen any for Cruz (R for Senate in TX), until this morning either. OTOH, I haven't seen a single yard sign for Obama, though I see multiple bumper stickers a day.

(12,132 posts)Central Florida area. In one neighborhood near mine it's about 10 to 1 on a rough guess from what I remember driving through last weekend. Older, expensive houses (properties ranging from $400k to over a million...lots of lake front) and I have always thought of it as a conservative neighborhood..I would say it's close to 70% retired or very near retired.
Unfortunately, it's the shortest way to get from my shitty neighborhood to the other side of town. I like looking at the pretty houses and lawns but those signs are irritating.

(383 posts)I'm in Walworth county in SE Wisconsin. I've seen quite a few Ryan for Congress lawn signs but only one Romney/Ryan. Unfortunately, that one is two houses away from me. They're hedging their bets though. They have one of each.

(6,960 posts)I have not seen even one Obama-Biden yard sign around where I live in northern Jefferson County, Colorado.
I've seen maybe a half dozen Rmoney signs.
Few bumper stickers.
But it is also true that there are far fewer yard signs for any candidates than there was two or four years ago.
On the other hand, since my wife, son and daughter are registered 'unaffiliated' we have already received a stack about three inches high of mailers.

(320 posts)I live in CO, and I've seen almost no yard signs here at all. I've seen none for Obama, and about 6 for Romney seemed to sprout up overnight.
I volunteer at the local Obama office and we've had a lot of people come in asking for signs, but we don't have any to give them. You have to get one online for a donation.
The thought is that yard signs don't do anything, it is more important to spend the money on voter registration and GOTV stuff. I personally think there is a place for them. I need to see if I can dig out my sign from 4 years ago.

(17,086 posts)I took this shot of the local R hdqtrs a couple weeks ago - after the R convention. They had taken down their Paul signs and there was nary a Rmoney sign to be seen. I noticed yesterday that they did have a couple signs up for him at last - the smallest ones in the yard!
All the signage I've seen at private residences has been for local races.

(35,699 posts)this is a guy who put up a Red Chinese flag when Obama was inaugurated in 2009 and didn't take it down until after the mid-term elections in 2010. So he probably is a "lone wolf" supporter of Romney. I can hardly wait to see what he does when Obama wins in November.

(32,086 posts)They were next to signs for the teabagger who is running for Congress in that district. No doubt put out by his campaign, rather than by average citizens. I saw one bumper sticker in that area, and the traffic was pretty damn heavy.
Here in the northern reaches of Joke Wilson's district, I've seen one bumper sticker. There were about a half dozen yard signs in the yards of some of the dressage horsey types during the primary season. They disappeared two or three months ago.

(11,589 posts)More than Obama signs. It's rather delusional, to be honest. On my block, the people that have Romney signs are people that only moved in in the past 6-9 months... They don't seem quite aware of where they moved I think.
Funny story, a house on my road went up for sale, the family moved; They left behind a Romney sign on the yard. House went under contract and the day the new family moved in, that sign was gone.

I'm telling you all, his whole campaign is a big scam to make money for millionaires. They know they couldn't win but still knew they could bring in $100 Million+ just by running any poor schmuck.
