Albert Peterson shot dead his wife and two sons hours after going to church because he dreaded the thought of Obama winning the election, a family friend has revealed.
A confidante of the family for the past 25 years has spoken to MailOnline about the strength and grace of the Peterson family, as well as the torment that plagued Albert which drove him to shoot dead his wife Kathleen and his two sons Christopher and Mathew at their suburban home in DC on Sunday.
A history of mental illness, the loss of a dear uncle, and a growing fear of Obama winning a second term in the White House took its toll on the mind of Mr Peterson, a wealthy defense contractor, the friend said.
'He just did not want his kids inheriting this mess,' Maggie L, who did not wish to reveal her last name, told MailOnline. 'Sometimes we thought he might take his own life when he was so depressed. We never thought he would take Kathie's.'

Treason to the people. Treason to the United States. Fox news should be shuttered, and it's minions sent to the Hague.

(7,932 posts)People knew he was depressed and had other problems but no one did anything about it. There needs to be a way to make sure people with problems get the help they need before its to late. As someone who suffered from depression, I can tell you that I did not realize how bad it was until I started getting help.

(6,931 posts)The Daily Mail has run anti Obama artices pretty much daily for the last several months. When they can't find anything derogatory -- which is usually the case -- they make imaginary and fictitious links to other stories. It's disgusting.

(62,325 posts)is disingenuous. He was paranoid and had issues all of his life with mental illness. The headline is based on one woman's opinion which should not have been used to diminish the extent of the problems he had for so long.
What should have been more prominent in the story is that he had Security Clearance. He was a pretty wealthy Defense Contractor. How does someone with the kind of problems he had get Security Clearance?
Also, it may be that he did not get the help he so clearly needed, even before this terrible tragedy, because he did not want to lose the Security Clearance.
There is nothing other than the comments to the press of one friend, to indicate that this man murdered his two sons, his wife and then killed himself, because he was upset over Obama winning. For that to make sense, the election would have had to be over, for one thing.
Looks like the truth is he was a very sick man who did not get the help he needed so badly. But it appears that a lot of people were worried about him for quite a while, including his wife's brother and other family members.
Trust the DM to publish a sensational headline like that with nothing other than one comment from one person.

(86 posts)to murder given the poison they pump into their listeners heads 24/7. A part of me has no sympathy for this guy. He probably regurgitated this poison throughout his home and community. He was full of hate and it consumed his weak-ass mind.
