God forbid Michelle dresses like a modern lady. She was not elected to any office and she is not the Queen of the USA but the First Lady - an ambassador to all people everywhere. I adore how Michelle is at ease interacting with all sorts of people whether it's the leaders of another country or children from a local school. As for comparing her to how other First Lady's have dressed, most dressed according to what the norm was for the time they were serving. If Jackie Kennedy was a 40-something year old First Lady today I suspect she would wear sleeveless dresses and kitten heels too. (And btw I'm starting to get annoyed with the term of 'Kitten Heels' it sounds sexual when really it's just a pump that has a shorter heel to it - around an inch.)
I've seen Anne Romney and if god forbid she gets in the White House she'll make herself the new Marie Antoinette. Ms. Romney is not comfortable around the working class the way Michelle is. I suspect 47% of the country would be person non grata in Ms. Romney's world.
Michelle Obama 'Doesn't Look Or Act' Like A First Lady, Says Virginia Voter Bobbie Lussier
Lussier: "No, she doesn't. She doesn't look or act. I mean, can you imagine you know, Kennedys or the Bushes or anybody doing pushups on the floor? I mean you know. That's just not a first lady."
Shapiro: "A lot of people wondered if there was a racial undertone to your comments."
Lussier: "No, it's not. I don't care what color she is. It's just she just doesn't act and look like a first lady. I mean she's more about showing her arms off. ... I think that's very inappropriate for a lot of functions that she goes to."
Shapiro: "So do you mean it's an issue of modesty?"
Lussier: "Yeah. It's respect and ... for being in the White House."
Shapiro:"Fewer sleeveless dresses, fewer pushups ..."
Lussier: "They talk about more like her dresses and how she looks and stuff and her arms and whatever. [...] You see her walking around in shorts, and you know, just real casual wear. And to me ... I mean when I go to functions I kind of dress up other than today, but you just gotta look the part."
If there is a Mrs. Lussier at home I feel sorry for her. He probably treats her like some second class citizen put on this earth to serve him.
