Allen West attacks Patrick Murphy over college bar fight
Posted by Rachel Weiner on September 28, 2012 at 11:06 am

Locked in a tight race for reelection, Rep. Allen West (R-Fla.) is attacking his Democratic opponent over a college arrest outside a bar.
The congressman’s latest ad contrasts what West and Democrat Patrick Murphy were doing on Feb. 16, 2003.

“Fort Hood, Texas: Lt. Col. Allen West had just received deployment orders and prepares his men to go to war,” the narrator says over military-style graphics. “That night, South Beach, Miami: Patrick Murphy is thrown out of a club for fighting, covered in alcohol and unable to stand. Murphy then confronts and verbally assaults a police officer.”

So Brave Sir Allen has decided to attack Patrick Murphy about a drinking related incident that occurred when Murphy was a 19 year old college student. Because, apparently, no 19 year old college students have ever had an embarassing incident involving alcohol. Ever.

The irony is rich in this one. Because between Murphy and West if you think "2003" and "assaulting a police officer", somehow I think West is the one you have to worry about.

I seem to remember a certain 42 year old Lieutenant Colonel in 2003 seizing an Iraqi policeman, having him beaten, and then sticking his head in a bucket and shooting off a gun next to his head, all for "intelligence" that even he had to admit was thoroughly worthless. This resulted in the Lieutenant Colonel being charged with violations of the UCMJ and forced to retire under prospect of court martial. I forget who that Lieutenant Colonel was....Allen Bernard West or something like that.....real scumbag.....wonder what he is up to now.....

So let's get this straight, Sir Allen--In 2003, a 19 year old college kid does what many 19 year old college kids do, has a little too much to drink and then "verbally assaults" (read: curses out) a police officer. That man obviously can never be trusted to be elected to public office ever in his life. Never.

Yet also in 2003, a 42 year old military officer, in a highly volatile setting where America's reputation as "liberators" is at risk, physically assaults an Iraqi police officer and then conducts a mock execution (recognized by most as being a form of torture) upon him, resulting in no actionable intelligence (as is the case often with situations involving torture) and a UCMJ charge. That man is somehow an American hero and is unquestionably qualified to serve as the legislative representative for thousands of people (half of whom he openly despises).

It's a strange, strange world for strange, strage Sir Allen.

I wouldn't read too much into that.

From what I remember, the last official poll had Murphy and Sir Allen running neck-and-neck.

By the way, West's internal poll had Romney leading Obama 51-44 in the district despite the fact the district went Obama's way in 2008.

But that doesn't mean he won't.

He is a horrible, horrible human being. I don't call human beings "evil", but I have no problem calling them "horrible" or "bad" and Allen West is highly deserving of such terms.
