Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsIs DU gonna go into DefCon mode tonight the way we used to on DU2?
Or is that not a real concern with DU3?
Ah, the good old days, I remember them well...sig lines temporarily not visible and avatars, too, IIRC...
I thought DU was a lot of fun during those times...even tho we were going thru some tough stuff together...we had each other to console/rejoice with...

(12,081 posts)This is no support group website. I do not feel like I have a family here. There is too much bullying. I continue to come here to post my opinion on things. I have let myself be run off this website by bullies before. I felt emboldened by the news anchor in Wisconsin to not let the bullies win. Do I feel like we console/rejoice with one another? No. I'm sure in these final weeks there will be even more bullying, even more nasty comments trying to silence anyone who disagrees. Ooooh, you better watch it. If we disagree, Obama may not get elected. That is a false boogeyman. We can disagree on policy issues and still elect Obama. I don't have to like everything Obama does. I don't have to like everything any democrat does. We better brace ourselves. It's about to get nasty. Cat fight anyone? Lets' break out the popcorn.

Most of us here like each other AND support our president. And can refrain from flamebait.

(63,912 posts)it was good to have DU then. I felt real community here, not at all divisive and mean spirited. Yes, there was some bitterness for Hillary supporters after the primaries in 2008, but mostly folks got over it. And Hillary is regarded today as a tower of strength!
I'm glad we have DU...

(20,441 posts)However, I think it appeared the past here had more unity simply because in 2004, Democrats controlled nothing.
They didn't have the House, the Senate, and they would go on to lose the White House again to George W. Bush. It's easy to be on the same page when the whole party is merely trying to gain some seats, as opposed to exercising power once it has the majority.

(12,799 posts)Advanced search gets turned off during high traffic here, but that's the only DefCon condition I've noticed to date. I want to know the answer. Will we be bereft of sig lines and avatars tonight?

(63,912 posts)high traffic night.
There are a lot of nervous people here today...and I am one of them.
I fell asleep during the Republican Convention, woke up after it was over and went on DU (with great trepidation). Then I saw the threads about Clint Eastwood and the chair. I went back to bed VERY relieved...
