identify the causative factors. This resulted in President Johnson pushing for important consumer saftey labeling regulations warning Republicans to remove their clothes before ironing them. This was also one of the last documented cases of Republicans actually following good advice.

Ironing your clothes does not ordinarily come with a health and safety warning, but add a forgetful nature, health condition or a toddler to the mix… and you have all the makings of a potential disaster.

1. Always Iron on a Sturdy Ironing Board

How do you use an iron safely? For a start, always iron on a quality ironing board. Ironing boards have cotton covers and padding that are resistant to excessive heat. Additionally, when you place the iron down, the iron rest can withstand the full heat of the soleplate.

If ironing health and safety is a priority, applying these ironing safety tips will give you peace of mind that your laundry room is not the death trap that nightmares are made of.

Burns are the 5th most common injury in American homes so ensuring your ironing setup is not a danger is a smart move.

I personally was most 'shocked' about there being no discussion about not ironing while taking a bath. Believe me, this is not something one would want to do a second time. Trust me.

People from that time would not even recognize this country today if they were just plopped down into the middle of it without going through the gradual decline since Reagan.

Isolationism was popular (and legislated); it took Pearl Harbor and a massive propaganda effort to bring America on board with the War effort.

and this captures the current Republican mentality very well.

Willkie was an outstanding American. At the 1940 Republican Convention, he said, "Democracy and our way of life is facing the most crucial test it has ever faced in all its long history; and we here are not Republicans, alone, but Americans, to dedicate ourselves to the democratic way of life in the United States because here stands the last firm, untouched foothold of freedom in all the world."

When the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor, Willkie threw his support behind FDR and helped the wartime cause until his death in 1944.

What a contrast to today's crazy-right Trump Republicans!
