(383 posts)Dude, you need to delete that or reword that. I agree that is a very callous thing to say. What is wrong with you?

(5,034 posts)Oh, wait. You have a dangling modifier, so it looks like you are saying the tutor is for the mom when it's actually for the kid. Got it.
Let me know if you need any other sentence structure help.
Sincerely,

P.S. That letter is adorable and, absent a few punctuation errors, has an incredible voice.

(10,059 posts)For all those letters we see, there are many more we don't, written by children suffering even more than this particular child. This Christmas is going to be brutal for many many folks this year, young and old.

(11,611 posts)an organization named Santas Anonymous sets up tables in malls, with a couple of volunteers and a Christmas tree. The tree is adorned with outline drawings of teddy bears that have obviously been coloured by children.
On the back of each bear is an easily "unpeeled" sticker that has a code specific to the child, a gender and age, and a gift that child wants. If you ask, they will let you have the bear after they have put the sticker on the gift.
It makes a lovely present for someone who would appreciate it, and someone for whom a gift seems either impossible or redundant. What can anyone get me that I really NEED? There are many things I want, but they are beyond the range of "Xmas gift." If I want it badly enough and can afford it, I'll buy it myself.
I've sent out a number of them over the years, and the first time each person received one, I included a note of explanation and tell them that, instead of something that you're going to remember for maybe a day after eating it, or an object to gather dust on a shelf, a 9 year old girl got a Barbie. Or whatever.
One woman that received one is an incredibly tender-hearted person, and she told me she cried off and on the whole afternoon after opening her mail.
Please consider it.

(11,611 posts)But my experience has been that it is an "all in" situation - that you are undertaking to provide Xmas in toto. The toy tree is a lot more within reach of people.
And, I quit giving to the SA several years ago after reading an interview with their Communications Director. In that interview, he said that SA's position was that same sex parents should be executed. That seemed a little punitive to me.

I was just providing info. I'm in Houston and I've noticed many charities like Toys For Tots have closed for the year.

I wish somehow, somewhere that I could buy a Lego set and donate it to Toys for Tots. And somehow the magic of Christmas would help the Lego set find its way to this kid's stocking.
I'm a dreamer that lives in a Hallmark Christmas movie, sometimes. I just hope somehow, someway this child gets a Lego set.
This makes me sad and I know this kid is not alone. It's going to be a rough Christmas for a lot of folk this year.
