The Republican obsession with "real"?

i.e. "He's not a real American." "This isn't a real recovery", etc. It seems to be all about minimizing and/or demeaning people and things that they don't want to bother their "beautiful minds" with. But what the hell do THEY know about REALITY? They (proudly) don't inhabit the same "reality-based community" that most of us have to slog through every single day of our lives, which is part of the reason that their ideas and policies are simply impractical and/or unworkable for 99% of the American public. Yet, as the anonymous adviser to President George W. Bush (wild guess: Karl Rove) once proudly stated, they seek to create their own reality and they'd probably be more successful at it but for the fact that reality (eventually) keeps showing up and popping their "bubble" time after time.

it has nothing to do with "reality".
it has everything to do with "us" versus. "them".

even the "not a real recovery" thing, that means "i know WHITE people who are still struggling".
