Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) called out President Trumps response to the $900 billion COVID-10 relief bill passed in Congress last week unbelievably cruel in an ABC News interview.
Said Sanders: What the president is doing right now is unbelievably cruel. Many millions of people are losing their extended unemployment benefits. Theyre going to be evicted from their apartments because the eviction moratorium is ending. We are looking at a way to get the vaccine distributed to tens of millions of people. Theres money in that bill.

(13,225 posts)A large number of those who support Trump want to be cruel. They think cruelty is necessary (as long as it's not them on the receiving end). Bernie complaining about cruelty is music to their ears.
Biden's statement is more effective, imo.

(61,925 posts)If people who claim to be Christian enjoy hearing that their leader is cruel, let's say it over and over again. Who knows, maybe a few of them will experience shame.

(9,684 posts)But how many of those Trumpers are also on the receiving end of his cruelty?
I think the media needs to track a few of his deplorables down and get them on the record!

They'll successfully pivot it toward the Democrats.

(62,296 posts)The Republicans will block it in the Senate.
Trump won't sign off on it.
See, this is why they win, doing nothing, nothing happens, so they win. Simply do nothing, spout off propaganda, and they have half the freaking voting bloc voting for them. To do nothing.

(16,195 posts)and something needs to be done, but HOW do we move the media in the direction of covering both sides in the same way?
Republicans get all the benefit of the doubt, they get the blame deflected.
Meanwhile, Democrats are held to account for everything, even things they did not do.

(62,296 posts)They have been nurturing this culture for a very very long time. They're very ignorant about politics. They are very much tribal in how they view the parties.
