How consumer-activists are taking down right-wing shock jocks, one after another

How consumer-activists are taking down right-wing shock jocks, one after another

During her Thursday show, Rachel Maddow asked a question:

"Is Glenn Beck still around?"

Rachel's question about Beck was a good-natured taunt and throw-away line from someone who once admitted to admiring the Beckster. But it was also tacit recognition of the volunteer work of an ad hoc group of volunteers, many of whom called themselves Stop Beck. The aggregation — more a group of like-minded volunteers, than an organization — has a storied history in social activism, having worked patiently and diligently before finally accomplishing its one specific goal: driving Beck off of Fox News. While Beck is pursuing new endeavors, his influence on the national conversation has been almost inconsequential compared to what it once was.

When Rush Limbaugh attacked Sandra Fluke, remnants of Stop Beck morphed* into Stop Rush.

Against all sensibilities, Limbaugh keeps feeding the flames that threaten to engulf him. Earlier this week he told a caller, "You are a vagina." On Thursday he droned on similar themes, bloviating incessantly on an alleged relationship between female biology and politics. Rush misread and misinterpreted the study that provoked his sordid spiel, but then Rush routinely sacrifices truth and accuracy for political expediency.

Limbaugh's latest lurid lesson on female biology and more, here.

or whatever happens to knock the King of Twisted Hate and Bile off his throne, I will be throwing the biggest party ever. It will be an exorcism. This country has been severely harmed by this...this...this

"Entity"

(there are no short descriptions for such a subhuman)

BUT-- the day after the Exorcism Party--I'll come back to reality, knowing one of his young admirers will be ready to take his place. They're like the pythons in Florida....breed fast and have a large appetites....they take over and dominate the whole ecosystem.

We do need a constant watchdog group on this. This so-called "free speech" has wreaked havoc in this nation & you have to challenge it directly even if you can't legislate against it. After Rush & Beck and Co--I hope enough people realize this.

how about festering, blistering anal fistula on the blazing butt of Lucifer?

Entity-I was trying to think of something empty, something non-human, something so foul as to be unworthy of words (especially since he vomits so many).

"By September Limbaugh's audience share had dropped to 9.6 percent, a decrease of nearly half. The drop knocked him out of first place in that segment of the market.

Stop Beck knocked Glenn Beck off of Fox in 21 months. So far, Stop Rush, Flush Rush and other allies have been focusing on Rush for just over eight months. Stay tuned."

So this is a segment of his audience. A dramatic drop, although not likely representative of his numbers across the board (which we don't currently know.)

Since this represents the streaming audio segment of the market, it could indicate young people abandoning Rush in very significant numbers since last March. That in itself could be incredibly damaging -- young people are the demographic that advertisers seek.

The same thing will happen if Rush gets pushed out of radio...he'll just find another roost. Creatures like the two of them never go away.

But there are new one coming by the droves and those people are the baby boomers hitting retirement now. I have seen it a lot over the past couple years. People who used to work 8 to 5 with all kinds and races of people are now being bombarded with how so and so is taking your money you worked so hard to save. I am quite shocked how easy it is to do. A quick turn of a phrase here, some misleading quote there, and a big heaping spoonful of lies and I watch the folks I thought I knew turn into these raving right wing nut cases.

and they rave.

They hijacked the white male mindset most definitely in the 80's - that's when things got crazy. A lot of them went with Reagan because the establishment was 'taking your money'. And so they had their money taken by the corporate establishment.

Good for these folks and their focus - very much needed.

at 4 o'clock 970 AM they call it 95 FM. So is idiot Savage at 6. Lots of these people out here WORSHIP these lunatics. One woman volunteered to let me water board her, she said she already done it once, it isn't torture. She mentioned Limbaugh and I thought she was going to cry, because she thinks he is so great. Her age about 40 and she was odd.
