WND Columnist: Prosecute Liberals, Journalists for TreasonSubmitted by Brian Tashman on Thursday, 10/25/2012 1:40 pm
For years, conservatives have claimed that liberals seek to criminalize Christianity and conservative opinions through imaginary hate speech laws. But today, WorldNetDaily columnist Erik Rush writes that the government should prosecute liberals and members of the press in order to defend freedom, of course. He accuses journalists of treasonous collusion with the Obama administration and said the Founders would have wanted journalists to be found guilty of high crimes. Trials for treason and the requisite sentences would apply, Rush says, and I would have no qualms about seeing such sentences executed, no matter how severe. He claims that progressives seditious, anti-American speech is excepted from protection under the First Amendment, hoping that the political disenfranchisement of liberals, progressives, socialists and Marxists can begin in earnest, and in the open.

(9,127 posts)I find it ridiculous and contemptible (but not unexpected) that some right-wing whack job would call for prosecuting progressives, liberals, and Democrats. That's the same sort of BS rhetoric the Radical Right has been pushing since the 1920's and the ever-increasing age of their reactionary thinking doesn't make it any more true now than it did when people were scraping by as business after business after business failed in the Great Depression and millions of Americans were scrambling to find work, food, and shelter.
On the other hand, I think there is more than ample evidence that if anyone ought to be tried for treason, it's nasty little right-wing pseudo-patriots who have deliberately set American citizen against citizen, deliberately allowed the breakdown of the nation's infrastructure, sought to sell American citizen-taxpayers' stakes in our national resources to multinational corporations, winked at politicians and billionaires exporting their wealth to overseas bank accounts, involving the US in trillion-dollar foreign wars on the basis of false evidence, and deliberately setting out to drive the US government into bankruptcy.

(37,540 posts)Your points are exactly right....it is the "treason accusers" who are betraying the founding values of this country. Romney represents the absolute apex in Republican sellout of our country to Big Business. If Romney gets "elected", I'm pretty sure the Republicans will begin legislating our government into a One Party system, really not much different to today's Chinese Communist Party....A People's Party , run by the 5%, totally bought and owned by Big Business. They have a lot in common - their only principle is making principal....for themselves.
Oh, and you know when these Republicans start consolidating power and turning this into a One Party State...guess who'll be #1 on the hit list? Yep, the 2nd Amendment'ers. The NRA will become devoted to absolute gun control as part of the power consolidation. Lets see how many of these Republican voters go to war with the government they helped elect, then...I'll bet not many after a few, hi-profile take-downs..
I can see history repeating itself - the dynamics that underpinned the run-up to WW2 are still in play, except we'll be playing the bad guys in history this time.

(5,125 posts)Though I have not heard of this guy before, Googling his name and "tea party" led to this blog post of his, which ends with:
"....the ideologues and committed useful idiots (such as the Occupy mobs) will not. They may have to be dealt with quite harshly, because this isnt simply a fad, or the folly of the Tea Party of the left. It is a coordinated communist revolution which represents the necessary and imminent death of liberalism in America or the death of America as we know it."
