Waterford Township(MI) teen steals Obama campaign signs; mom drives getaway car

A Waterford Township teen is in hot water, but apparently not with his mom, after stealing a campaign yard sign promoting President Obama’s re-election. Turns out, mom was the getaway driver, police said.

The theft took place mid-morning on Saturday, according to a press release from the Waterford Township Police Department., when a black GMC Yukon stopped at the intersection of Crescent Lake Road and Pontiac Lake Road. A young man got out and removed the Obama sign.

A neighbor saw the theft take place and called the police. Based on information provided by the witness, police said, officers were able to track the vehicle down at another residence where they found the sign in the garage.

Police said a 17-year-old boy admitted stealing the sign and his mom admitted to driving the vehicle and stopping it in order for her son to snag the sign.

The son was cited for larceny and released, police said. It’s not clear whether the mother was charged.

2. I just don't understand why people would stop at someones home and remove a sign. It

doesn't matter what party they belong to. It seems such a waste of time and engery. I wonder how it makes them feel? I would think its a waste of my precious time in a day.
