Charles Blow: "God bled. And once you see God bleed, you can no longer believe that someone is God."

Charles Blow of The New York Times thinks that the Teflon which seemed to appear around Number 45 may be gone.

Years, decades, of twisted propaganda had turned working-class white people into a victimized class. These white people saw themselves as the new Negro, in a turned-tables alternate reality. Society’s rules threatened to — or, had already begun to — work against them.

Trump, the trickster and rule-breaker, emerges as an amalgamation of their anxieties and rebellion. He was a politician, but to them, above politics. The Donald was approaching deity. His followers embraced a cultish zealotry.

But things have changed.

Trump’s announcement of a third run for the White House landed with a thud. High-profile Republicans have refused to sign on as early endorsers. Trump himself is cloistered at Mar-a-Lago, having not held a single public campaign event since his announcement. In fact, he has been reduced to the low and laughable position of personally hawking digital trading cards of himself. (Trump has always seen his die-hard supporters as customers to whom he could sell a product, whether a candidacy or a card.) [...]

So, what happened? In short, God bled. And once you see God bleed, you can no longer believe that someone is God.

The Jesus story negates the premise.

In 200 years Trump will have a church proclaiming his divinity.

4. I have seen a cross in all the Baptist churches I have gone to but never a depiction of Christ.

I have not been to all denominations but have seen a depiction of Christ only in Catholic churches.

10. I was raised Lutheran. We had more than a few crucifixes with Jesus.

Once I learned a little about Christianity, I always found a cross (with or without the cadaver) to be the stupidest and least representative symbol they could have chosen.

9. Only Catholic Churches show the crucifiction.

Protestant Churches emphasize the resurrection, so the Cross is empty.

The only way our democracy will survive for two hundred more years is for complete transparency into the corruption that was the Trump reign. To be sure there are many among us who are willfully and belligerently ignorant, and those people will glom onto the next fascist who feeds their fears and hate. But those are a small percentage, and there are many others who need to be shown in no uncertain terms how badly they were lied to and conned. Not only by Trump, but by a vast network of so-called public servants and their monied masters.

I know we’re all sick of hearing his name, but we need to continue to hear it in exposés and indictments and commission findings that strive to eradicate the rot that permeated our representation and government. If we don’t, we’ll all have learned nothing from the failure that is Donald Trump.

Besides they may have seen the Pig bleed but even if he dropped dead today, there would still be a crowd on hand three days after they buried him to see him rise. Weren't they still waiting for JFK Jr. to show up after being dead or faking his death or whatever?
