Best. Campaign. Ever.

To me, looking at the real numbers after the fact is like in Apollo 13 where they jettison the bulk of the craft before re-entry and see for the first time just how much of the craft had been blown away in the explosion.

We survived that? Wow.

I doubt any campaign has ever done so much with so little as the Obama 2012 campaign did. We were threading needles out there. You simply cannot romp in the Electoral college while losing 9 million of your voters.

Impossible. Incredible. But they did it.

A masterpiece of logistics. Just enough voters appear in just the right places. This was some MacGyver shit!

This is the platinum standard campaign for all time... the one that will be studied with awe. I wish we could patent it.

To me, 2008 and 1992 were equally impressive. Both improbable primary wins and masterful general elections. But in both cases running against an incumbent party in a bad economy.

But running as an incumbent in a bad economy... that's a heck of a "level of difficulty" score.

Best. Campaign. Ever.

The methods used for getting voters out stunned and stupified the opposition.

Here's the secret: Barack Obama is a genius. Like a Marcel Proust / Alan Turing / Norbert Wiener genius, but for politics. David Axelrod is a genius. David Plouffe is a genius. Jim Messina is an ever-loving, money counting, fund-raising genius. Stephanie Cutter is knife-you-in-your-chest-on-Meet-the-Press ridiculous genius.

That's what happened. We brought the fire. Because these people are geniuses.

Which is also what some of us were trying to tell some of you during the worst of the fight, when y'all were fretting and shirking.

Just saying, dude.

I don't recall any of "you" ever saying we were going to suffer almost as bad a vote drop-off as Jimmy Carter. Any links on that?

Your blind faith is not wisdom. You had no idea what we were up against. No idea.

Having posted 100s of posts about how Obama would win and how good things looked I am not a very likely candidate for Debbie Downer.

But I am not a total fool. I actually had some notion of the magnitude of the problem, which you clearly did not.

If any of the blind faith crew wants to link to where they predicted we were going to get fewer votes than Bush in 2004 while winning big I will be interested to see them.

There are, of course, no such posts.

And it would be amusing to look back at 2010 to see some of the stunning electoral predictions of what "you" were trying to tell "us."

In Apollo 13 terms, "you" were telling "us" there hadn't even been an explosion, and then claiming that absurb position was vindicated by the safe landing of the Apollo 13 crew.

Silly person.

and that I drag my family into paying attention as well. They all love Obama and know what an extraordinary human being he is, and that he knows that to have good people around you that aren't just Yes people but people with other and better ideas you may have - he accepts that without his ego getting in the way.

yay.
