Another change within section 7 of the RCID Land Development Regulations seeks to replace the Planning Board, which is a separate Advisory Board within the District, with the Board of Supervisors. The amendment would replace the Planning Board as the local planning agency with the Board of Supervisors. The Board of Supervisors would then be able to make development decisions and the amendment says that DeSantis hand-picked Board would be the final decision-making authority for the District and that no further administrative appeal is available once the rubber stamp Board has made a decision.

(82,849 posts)Why not? Who's going to stop him? After squeaking by in 2018, Florida re-elected this nitwit in 2022 with nearly 60% of the vote. Whatever DeSantis does is by definition what Floridians want from their god emperor. Vox populi, vox dei, and all that.

(3,930 posts)Nothing is being done directly to Disney. This is a public district for which the state has almost complete control.
The only check on the State of Florida has is the voters and public perception. If the public supports DeSantis and the state legislature and refuses to vote them out of office over this or other issues, there is very little Disney can do.
