Do you suppose that Obama is YET ready to back down and allow sanity to return...

Obama faces Latin America revolt over drugs, trade
Washington's ability to influence events in Latin America has arguably never been lower. The new reality is as much a product of the United States' economic struggles as a wave of democracy and greater prosperity that has swept much of the region of 580 million people in the past decade or so.

It's not that the United States is reviled now - far from it. Although a few vocally anti-U.S. leaders like Venezuela's Hugo Chavez tend to grab the media spotlight, Obama has warm or cordial relations with Brazil, Mexico and other big countries in the region.

Most Latin American leaders were rooting, either privately or publicly, for his re-election on Tuesday.

That said, even close allies are increasingly emboldened to act without worrying about what "Tio Sam" will say or do. Nowhere is that more evident than on anti-narcotics policy. (snip)

I think we're thirty plus years into remembering that prohibition only creates a need for larger jails, more coffins, and police as aggressive, corrupt, and murderous as those who are bringing the contraband to the citizens.

Obama, please let this foolishness go. Let the violence end. Let taxing the drugs to help cover all N & S American countries to begin to rebuild and cover their national debts.

Hey voters, don't forget to rec this so it gets to the Greatest page to be seen by Obama's lookers, whoever it is he has keeping tabs on DU opinions.

LGBT community was able to put pressure on Obama's re-election campaign Without that, I'm not convinced he will evolve.

As I started though, fingers crossed, hope still in sight.

development.

Better farming techniques for food, will give farmers growing drug crops for cash more options.

And since there will always be addicts or one sort or another, lets legitimize and fund rehab centers.

I'd extend that to dealers, but some of them are seriously evil. "GOD DAMN, the pusher man."
