(1,337 posts)If there is a strike in the entertainment field, do all things stop like filming a movie, etc?

(10,924 posts)A few of the local unions are joining, so it effectively shuts down any WGA-written shooting here in LA and also New York.
If there's production happening elsewhere (like Canada) then they might still be going if the writing is done. But usually, things are rewritten during shoots, so a WGA writer would be needed.
Some unions can't strike in solidarity. Most animation (except for prime-time shows like The Simpsons and Family Guy) are not covered by WGA agreements and will continue under the Animation Guild/IATSE contract.
Post-production is generally still going, so anything that has been shot can be finished. But that will dry up quickly.
Commercials and other types of non-entertainment content can still proceed.

(1,337 posts)I read a report that WWE wrestler Seth Rollins has a role in a new MCU Captain America and was doing shootings for it last week. First. Seth is non union, and second, Disney is shooting a movie during a writers strike. That surprises me.

Still, with the upcoming DGA and SAG strikes looming, it might still be impacted.
