I'm not suggesting that Trump should be executed. I'm agreeing with your point that stealing nuclear and military secret documents used to be considered Bad, in the country these people say they want back.

He lost in 2020 and I can't imagine he would get MORE votes now. Assuming the election is fair, I don't think he can win.

I hope he wins the GOP nomination. Or, I hope he causes so much trouble that whoever they nominate can't win.

I hope he keeps running his mouth. He's driving people away from the Republican Party. Now it's up to us to win them over to the Democrats.

"Assuming the election is fair..." I'm old enough to remember when that would be a safe assumption.

*And the "news" media, of course.

If Trump fades away, they'll find somebody worse next time.

Burn it down. The Republican Party is a threat to democracy. I want them to be destroyed by the monster they created

Because he did.

Republicans are not trying to undermine and oust him. They're relying on us to do all the heavy lifting on that while they try to keep their heads down and not draw the ire of the Ahabs that run their party (i.e., the ideological big funders and the voting base).

However, in answer to your question - yes, I was not surprised by Trump's level of support in 2020. Sitting presidents have a big advantage. First term presidents are usually re-elected.* He got more votes than before, but not enough. At this point, I doubt Trump would get as many votes again, but we're a long way off from Nov 2024.

* George HW Bush wasn't re-elected, for reasons that included his appearance to have broken his "no new taxes" pledge, and Ross Perot's candidacy.

* Jimmy Carter wasn't re-elected, partly because of poor media coverage, notably the Iran hostage crisis, which was televised literally every day.

have opened a whole new category. Spies did, and do operate in the dark. This bigot betrays his country openly, and worst, he uses it blatantly as propaganda. He is possibly the single most dangerous person on earth.

Look at his relationship with Putin and Saudi Arabia.

His motive is simply MONEY! MONEY! MONEY!

He is likely selling our security and our allies' security.

dealing with research documents at NASA and even I wasn't stupid enough to think about running off an extra copy and pocketing it.

If they don't want to throw a former president into the pokey, they need strict house arrest at the golf palace of his choice with electronic jamming and a visiting list restricted to his family. I don't care if his prison is lined with gilt and fake marble, as long as it's a prison.
