'Does your husband know you've been touching Petraeus under the table?

hope both of these women and Petraeus and all the men involved are getting all the attention they obviously needed

Some divorce attorneys are going to get a nice payday soon LOL

It's the daily mall but who cares, more juicy to read

'Does your husband know you've been touching Petraeus under the table?' The cat-fight emails sent by Paula Broadwell to supposed love rival Jill Kelly

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2232133/Does-husband-know-youve-touching-Petraeus-table-The-cat-fight-emails-sent-Paula-Broadwell-supposed-love-rival-Jill-Kelly.html?ito=feeds-newsxml

The mistress of shamed former CIA chief David Petraeus accused her supposed love-rival of touching him under the table and asked if her husband was aware of her actions, in a string of threatening emails.
Paula Broadwell's affair with Petraeus was exposed after she sent a series of messages to Florida socialite Jill Kelly, apparently warning her off her lover.

She does have that, "I'll let you stick it anywhere you want for a scoop look"
while petrahorny has that "Can you believe I'm tapping this! I look like a turtle! expression"

traditional male-behavior: a physical fight doesn't necessarily fix the underlying issue or favor the just party. But it does end things, permanently and let's people move on with their lives.

Quite civilized and rational.

Settling disputes by screaming and scheming seems very inefficient to me (particularly since it never seems to actually solve anything).

However, women are always haunted with that stereotype when it can go both ways.

And I suspect many who made it out of public school did as well.

A male bully will beat you senseless, but he won't gossip about you and try to drive a wedge between you and your friends.

A female bully often won't be overtly physically violent (although that happens as well, particularly among the very young) but she will spread rumors and attempt to destroy your reputation.

I think you can call a woman's "other man" a concubine. In this case, the man is a general and they are in fact, not equals. So I see her as more his concubine. I could imagine it the other way around, as women get more power.

I think the way to deal with PC terms is to question them.

Nov 2012

eg. I don't use the word "mistress." But I do use "concubine" as meaning illicit consort for either gender.
If you don't like this, what other word is there?

In this case I do think this woman has a lower status than the wife, as far as society is concerned. How could she have the same status?

An interesting question would be how does Paula's husband feel about it? -- ie. what name would he give to HER concubine?

Should we just go with girlfriend and boyfriend then? But that doesn't distinguish between the unmarried terms.

It is confusing.

I'm not putting anything in terms of ownership. I'm agreeing it is done by either sex these days. I'm looking for a mere term for the relationship that is not a cuss word. So for my own purposes, I just call all cases of it "concubinage." I guess I don't ever see it as a relationship of equality. Not if it's an extended affair. You do?

Yeah maybe there's a point to reviving the medieval word "par amour" (I think comes from Fr.) since it is uni-sex.

-------------
Some poster on a blog points out that it sounds more chic than "Adulterer"

Paramour is not so much ‘illicit’ as ‘destructive, an indulgence of betrayal for momentary or temporary pleasure’. Perhaps the word paramour implies an affluent or aristocratic setting. The formality of referring to an adulterer as a ‘paramour’, as in, ‘affair of the heart (l’ amour)’ – a seedy and scarcely hidden refuge of those that marry for family or monetary advantage, rather than respect and affection for a mate.

On a lighter note, this was posted:

"Down south, we often confuse “paramour” with its homonym, “power mower.” Then again, it’s great when you can get your paramour to cut your grass."

Tue Nov 13, 2012, 07:45 PM
Nov 2012

Last edited Tue Nov 13, 2012, 08:16 PM - Edit history (1)

In that case, it's not equal & she's the predator This is a dual gender demon:

"In folklore traced back to medieval legend, a succubus (plural succubi) is a female demon or supernatural being appearing in dreams, who takes the form of a human woman in order to seduce men, usually through sexual intercourse. The male counterpart is the incubus. Religious traditions hold that repeated intercourse with a succubus may result in the deterioration of health or even death."

He doesn't seem like an incubus--he risked and lost too much in the deal. An incubus would be like a rapist.

"An incubus (nominal form constructed from the Latin verb, incubo, incubare, or "to lie upon&quot is a demon in male form who, according to a number of mythological and legendary traditions, lies upon sleepers, especially women, in order to have sexual intercourse with them. Its female counterpart is the succubus."

Just speculating here...not arguing with you. (I mean, who really knows?...but in this case it seems to me that SHE has the power....the power to destroy...)

n. A sex partner to whom you have no special attachment. A person you occasionally have sex with who is not your S.O.

A fuck buddy is similar to a friend with benefits.

3. fuck buddy 1479 up, 722 down
A person who is not your boyfriend or girlfriend (or farmyard animal), with whom you have sexual relations, on the mutual understanding that you both want sex and nothing more.

Strictly, for the term 'fuck buddy' to apply, both people involved have to be single.

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=fuck%20buddy

A spokesman for Whitehouse today that lawyer, Gerald Harrington, has dated and "may have been engaged to Khawam." Harrington has not returned a call seeking comment.

Khawam claimed in a July 12 letter to her estranged husband that she took their now 4-year-old son "on vacation last year to Martha Vineyard," where their son and "I had a great time at the DSCC [Democratic Senate Campaign Committee] event."

"Derry Gerry," Whitehouse wrote. "I am excited to hear that you and [Khawam's son] may be coming to the Family Clambake. That would be terrific! All the best wishes, Sheldon."

That letter was written to Harrington, who has been a fundraiser for Kerry and other Democrats out of Rhode Island. Harrington, according to Khawam's federal bankruptcy filing earlier this year in Florida, gave her a personal loan of $300,000.
