The White House cat thinks she owns the place

From NY Magazine:

?resize=1024%2C768&ssl=1

When discussing life in the White House during another town hall in July 2021, [Biden] remarked, “It is very hard to get comfortable.”

While you might think the addition of a cat would make the White House feel more like a home, it seems that hasn’t solved the problem. In January 2023 the president revealed that his new cat Willow is adding to his discomfort.

“Willow may walk in here any time now. She has no limits,” Biden said. “You think I’m kidding, I’m not. Especially in the middle of the night when she climbs up and lays on top of my head.”

Of course she has no limits. She’s a cat.

She followed him throughout the house and curled up with him when he slept. She outlived him, but did the exact same thing with his successor, another neutered male. She was spayed, but a "mighty hunter" when lett outside. Both dogs accepted her completely and never seemed to mind their "feline shadow."

The daughter is named Dora, as in Dora the Explorer or in Spanish ExploraDORA
The mother is Romi. She's a feral and roamed the neighborhood, but for some reason she took to me, hence.the name Romi.
In fact, I send pictures of Willow to family and write "Look Romi's at the White House".

Romi is very reserved, docile actually, while Dora has no limits.
Romi allowed to it happen while Dora was a kitten, but now that Dora is a full grown cat, Romi will not have it and smacks Dora around when she gets out of hand.

It's actually fun to watch.
Dora, on the other hand, has the look of "What happened? Eh, I'll just sit on my hoomans lap and get some petting."

They simply allow us to share their spaces - reluctantly. In exchange, they demand that we feed them, and touch them in certain ways when they allow it.

Willow knows the White House is her house. The President and First Lady are just living there for about 5 1/2 more years, God willing.

What could be more comfortable and homey than that?

Well, comfortable for the cat at least.

The cat chose my President as her person of choice. This is revealing! He probably has to get up at 3 or 4, but still, cuddling with a cat is relaxing.

I follow a cat on IG named Ella (Ella watches TV) and the cat is in a contest, coming in second. Vote for Joe! Vote for Ella!

it would be more comfortable (or at the very least less uncomforable.) During a heat wave - probably not terribly comfortable.

But always sweet.

Since Joe has less hair than Jill, I imagine his head feels warmer than hers. Cats are all about stealing your body heat.

until he learned I didn't like waking up in the middle of the night with no pillow and a crick in my neck. 😆

This was when I hadn't already waked up with a faceful of fur and a cat curled all the way around my head. I miss that kitty so much. He was adorable.

Maybe not so comfortable now but I bet in winter he'll appreciate a warm soft fur hat that purrs.
