Massage School Protocol?

I just found out that the local massage school is moving near my house. Halleluia! (or however thats spelled).

Their website says they take appointments only, but no requests (like gender - non issue for me) but what I am not getting is this:

Services provided are offered as a tool for learning. Therefore, we do not take any specific requests in regard to gender or specific areas of focus.

Does this mean that you can't specify "back" or "legs"? You just make an appointment and pay them to work on whatever they are currently learning?

And neophyte question - does one tip for purchasing student services like this?

Anyone know?

nobody needs to pay tuition to a school to learn how to do that eShirl Nov 2012 #3
If that was my end game, I wouldn't have asked the questions. Ruby the Liberal Nov 2012 #6

likely because assignments are given daily and they have to practice an entire massage within the time allowed. Yes you would still tip just like a waiter in training or at a cosmetology school.

and yes - they charge for a hour, so I assume it is thorough. Tip customarily 20-25% like restaurants/hair/etc?

I don't mind someone poking on me as part of their lesson, but if I have a specific issue (neck pain), can I ask that they address that while they are learning other things (like arm/leg stuff or whatever)?
