(11,605 posts)Losing the presidency has to be such a demoralizing and humiliating experience and on a human level I kind of feel sorry for anyone who goes through that. I'm too much of a bleeding heart not to feel a little sorry for Romney when I saw the picture of him pumping gas, as pathetic as that probably sounds.
But I feel no sorrow whatsoever at the fact that Romney and Ryan and their contempt for almost half of Americans won't be going anywhere near the White House.

I was bullied in elementary and junior high school, so maybe that explains it.

(11,605 posts)It seems like there is so much hatred and anger...which is how I felt in 2004 when we lost. But now that we won and it seems like Romney's off to Disneyworld and whatever else he might do with his private life, I don't feel the need to wish him ill or hate on him anymore. Although I will be very satisfied if he ends up with 47% of the vote.

(1,370 posts)Meh. Romney has nothing but contempt for me. I know this because he's said as much, and I'm not (entirely) white, not male, rich or Mormon.
Right back at ya Mitty! Right back at ya.

(111,266 posts)He's being groomed by the Koch front groups to be the GOP's Great (lily) White Hope in 2016. I'm terrified this lunatic might get in just because the country likes to change parties every 8 years or so in hope they've forgotten how to steal while they've been out of power.
Ridiculing this little pimple's every pronouncement is our only hope for keeping him out of the running.

(3,888 posts)Ryan is despicable and we dare not forget nor let others forget.
He is sadistic and arrogant and can't wait to put the squeeze on the weakest members of society.
He makes himself feel big and strong by lying about how fast he can run or how many mountains he has climbed or by stepping on those who are already down.
Some big man?

And Ryan is just another guy that doesn't realize that he has legs that need exercising.

(3,888 posts)The legs that ran the marathon in less than 3 hours?
That picture really grosses me out, reminds me of an interview I once saw with an awful South African band, Die Antwoord.
Frankly, I think Anthony Weiner's underwear picture was less offensive.

(81,276 posts)I do NOT get it. Am I supposed to swoon because of his big blue seemingly-always-bloodshot eyes, his beefed up arms, his hairy legs, his running shoes, his hat on backwards (wow - how 13-year-old-punkish of him!), the gesture, the head tilt, what? Is there something I'm supposed to be picking up on, as a female viewer? Is this hot? Am I supposed to scratch 'n' sniff for pheromones or something?
'Cause I am not getting it! Sex appeal, where art thou?
Makes me curl my lip if you really wanna know. As a mom, it makes me want to turn him over my knee, give him a good spanking, take away his cell phone and his iPad and his Playstation or whatever it is he does with all his little would-be hoodlum friends, ground him for the rest of the school year and send him to bed early. Punk-ass dork.
And I'm sorry, but it doesn't matter what the external packaging looks like. His ideas make him extremely ugly in my eyes. With apologies to the late Alex Karras, "Mongo NOT impressed!"

(3,888 posts)who sees, in that picture, the same things you see.
This might be the latest look for adults in Janesville, Wisconsin but not where I come from nor in Washington DC.
Just what is he advertising?
Ryan evidently thinks that looking like a boy is going to somehow influence those, whose support he wants and needs.
Who are these people?
You are not picking up on his message because it is not designed for adult women. Ryan does not value adult women. He wants to attract men with power and money, the sort of individual he does value.
The message seems pretty perverse really. I doubt it helped the Romney/Ryan team in the election.

(617 posts)If I may - we are better than they are. I see no reason to emulate their consistently terrible behavior. Let them wallow in their own filth. I would see us ascended and not descended.

(81,276 posts)Glad you're here! I do admit though, we were kicked in the teeth and danced upon and pissed on in 2000 and also in 2004. So I can fully understand the wish for a little payback. I have long believed that a little mortification is good for the soul. It might even help the soul-less like wrongney and his little pet teabagger.
But the preference for taking the high road - well, it is indeed the more noble thing, and I do appreciate it. It's just a little harder for some of us to get to, considering the history and the context.

(57,936 posts)I'm glad that Romney and his vulture capitalism and Ryan and his Ayn Rand fixation did not win. But I don't embrace kicking them when they are down. It's just mean.
The election was about a better future for Americans, not about becoming an even more hateful, mean country than Fox News has already made us.
Sorry. I know this thread is well meant, but I hope that Romney and Ryan will quietly stop and think and ask themselves why their ideas were rejected by more than half of the voters. Maybe they will figure out that it is the hatefulness of vulture capitalism and the hatefulness of Ayn Rand that Americans rejected. That would really be a good thing for the country.
It isn't about hate for me. It is about direction. I'm just glad that Americans chose to go the way of tolerance and love and courage and good character. It makes me feel like as a nation we can accomplish anything now.
Let's focus on the positive.

(1,262 posts)Ryan may yet convince the soulless minions of orthodoxy to give him another chance. He is after all, white; has a cultlike hard-on for Ayn Rand and... He's hip and he's cool. He wears his cap backwards and works out. He's down with that edgy young new energy coming up in the fascist wing. Paul Ryan may yet recover.
Romney? Poor stupid washed up elitist blowhard. The good hair and being white just wasn't enough. The times they are a changin'. Mittenator made a lot of big promises to big people he can't keep now. Big doo-doo. Bad mojo.
